A/N: My first LuffyxNami. It was difficult.
~お誕生日おめでとうナミ!~
~Happy Birthday Nami!~
Nami walked outside where the sun was just setting onto the horizon. She leaned against the railing, admiring the view. She brought a plate of food with her, still hot. She took a bite and grinned. Pork in orange marmalade was one of Sanji's greatest dishes he served today. Of course, all of the dishes he made today were all her favorites.
Today was her birthday and she felt like a princess. She was treated kindly by all of the men-even Zoro who was famous for only being generous when she needed some saving. He didn't bicker or complain when she wanted some help around the ship, which was rare and probably the only time the swordsman would kindly oblige.
Sanji was, Sanji. The cook served her delicious crepes with hot, melt-in-your-mouth orange sauce for breakfast; created tons of appetizing hors d'oeuvres to enjoy for lunch; and the dinner was magnificent. Being on the ship for so long, Sanji was able to pinpoint every ingredient and dish everyone liked. All of the dishes were plated in plates none of the crew thought it existed on the Thousand Sunny. The birthday cake was velvety and filled with sweet whipped cream; he was able to create it without ruining her diet.
Although the cook swooned over her a lot more than usual, which she didn't mind.
Usopp conjured confetti and many entertaining activities with Nami's first edition Climatact. He accidentally managed to create a tiny thunder cloud and it crashed on an unlucky shipwright, resulting an angry light blue afro cyborg. Nami laughed the whole time while the sniper was chased around, throwing orbs of weak lightening at Franky.
Chopper helped around the kitchen most of the day and decorated the walls in cute block letters. She noticed Luffy was running about in the kitchen by the sounds of the screaming Sanji and a laughing captain. Robin had raised many flowers during the trip and placed a dozen of them in slender vases. She also brought in all of the presents everyone had hidden throughout the ship with her helpful arms, even though Sanji strongly protested. Nami had opened all of them and squealed in every single one. Bracelets, dresses, necklaces, all sorts of accessories unraveled out of the boxes. She immediately dressed herself in the gifts and thanked everyone. She had to admit, she was a little bit disappointed about one thing.
Luffy's dream of recruiting a musician in the crew was left ignored but once Brook joined the crew, birthdays were much lovelier. The skeleton musician played songs from the recent upbeat ones to the days when it was popular half a century ago.
Speaking of Luffy, the captain leaped right next to the startled navigator with pieces of food smeared all over his mouth.
"Did you eat the biscuit?" Luffy asked, grinning.
"No, not yet." Nami smiled, blushing slightly, "I just started with the pork."
"Aw," Luffy pouted. He relaxed himself by sitting cross legged on the rails. She thought it was amazing skill to sit in that fashion. "You should eat it Nami. It's good!"
Nami laughed, "Wait Luffy. Let me get a napkin." She pulled out a paper napkin under her plate and carefully wiped the gunk off Luffy's face. He squirmed while she did this and the navigator giggled. This intimate moment was special to her. It was hard for them to be together in this ship, no matter how big it was.
Luffy escaped from the attacking napkin so he still had a few scraps on his lips. He licked the rest clean. "Did you like your birthday?"
A weird question to ask, but Nami answered anyway, "It's great. I like it."
"What did you like the best?"
Nami shrugged, "I think I love this." She pulled her hair back to show him the earrings Sanji had given her. Suddenly, she remembered her disappointment and glared at Luffy, "You didn't give me anything."
"I gave you a hug this morning."
"That's not-" she had to admit, she was happy with just the morning hug, he beaming at her with his heart throbbing smile.
"The biscuit was really good, you know."
"Don't change the subject Luffy. Why didn't you get me anything?"
"Uh, we didn't land on any island for three weeks..."
"That's not an excuse! I gave you allowance on the island we went a month ago!"
"But...there wasn't anything good there!" Luffy looked annoyed now, "If you're not going to eat the biscuit I will!"
"Why are you so obsessed with the biscuit?"
Luffy slouched his shoulders, "Well, I made some! Plus, Sanji said it was cooked with meat juice and it's really good! But everyone ate it all and you have the last one!" the captain deftly snatched the delicious treat off her plate and opened his mouth wide.
"No Luffy! I didn't even taste it!" Nami punched Luffy in the face, reeling him almost off the ship. She grabbed the biscuit and took a bite of it.
It was good.
It was soft and piping hot.
It did have a meaty flavor.
Except after taking a bite out of it, Nami's teeth sank into something extremely hard. She cried out in pain and yanked the object out of the bread. Already she had two goals: to beat Luffy in the head for forcing her to eat such a solid hard treat and to beat Sanji for adding such a stupid ingredient. She opened her mouth to scream at Luffy when her eyes finally took in the sight of object.
Nami was met with a beautiful golden ring with one pretty heart shaped diamond in the center.
There was a sigh of relief and Luffy grinned. "Finally you ate it. Took you long enough."
Nami's mouth stayed open and she couldn't think of anything to say. Luffy liked the surprised reaction and grinned once more. "Happy Birthday Nami." Then he kissed her on the lips.
The End
