Dan was huddled underneath his blankets, trying to calm is wildly beating heart. He was close to having a nervous breakdown.

"Breath Dan," he muttered to himself. There was a sharp crack of thunder and he yelped. He was trying not to cry. He didn't cry. There was a flash of lightning that lit up the room. Dan could have sworn that he saw something out his window. That, of course, was impossible but still. Dan closed his eyes, breathing carefully. When the next crack of thunder sounded, he wasn't proud to admit that he shrieked. Seconds later, he could hear Phil rushing to his room. He hadn't meant to wake Phil. Now he'd have to lie. 'Yes Phil, I'm fine. No that wasn't me. Must have been someone else that screamed like a little girl. Perhaps a little girl?' Phil opened the door and stuck his head in.

"Are you alright Dan?" he asked.

"Of course." Dan hoped Phil didn't notice his voice crack. There was more thunder and Dan jumped, trying to control his shaking.

"Dan?"

"It's nothing," Dan rushed out, trying to hold back his tears. Phil came into Dan's room and sat on the edge of his bed.

"Is it the storm?" he asked.

"No." Phil looked at him. "Well maybe," Dan mumbled.

"It's okay. It was keeping me awake too," Phil said reassuringly.

"Yeah but you weren't actually afraid," Dan grumbled.

"It doesn't matter," Phil said. He pushed Dan over so that he could lay down next to him.

"What are you doing?" Dan squeaked.

"Trying to sleep. Now shush," Phil said softly, setting his glasses on the nightstand.

"Here?" Dan asked.

"Yes. Now shush," Phil repeated, closing his eyes.

"But this is my bed!" Dan was embarrassed by how high his voice was getting.

"Do you want me to leave?"

"Yes," Dan said. Phil sat up, rubbing his eyes. The thunder roared. Dan caught Phil's hand.

"Never mind!"

"I thought you wanted me to go," Phil said, amused.

"I lied. Don't leave me," Dan whimpered.

"I won't ever leave you," Phil whispered. They layed back down, curling into each other. Phil pressed a soft kiss to Dan's forehead.

"Goodnight Dan."

"Goodnight Phil."
