Author's note: I know I should be working on writing my other 4 fanfictions instead of starting a new one, but I can't help myself. I watched 'The 5th Wave' last night and fell in love with the characters, the plot, the action, and of course, the romance :)
Anyway, here is my attempt at a '5th Wave' fanfic! Please keep in mind I have not read the books, only watched the movie so I might get a few things wrong on that path.
This story starts - as you will find out soon - at the last scene of the movie and continues on where the movie finishes.
Please review and let me know what you think!

Prologue
"Hey, Sam. Here, wake up buddy," I gently shook my brother's arm, rousing him from his slumber. I smiled as I watched him stretch and sit up.
"Come on lazy bones," I heard Ben say from behind me. "Put your bear down, would you?"
I sighed. That bear. It was the reason I lost Sam in the first place. It was the reason that I went on that journey to get to him again. It was the reason I met Evan. Closing my eyes briefly, I forced myself to not think about him. It would only bring heartbreak - something I was not ready to deal with yet.
I forced a smile and sat down beside Sam, and Ben sat on the opposite side of me. I wait as Sam get his food and then I thank Dumbo when he hands me mine. Flintstone looks at Ben and me, a curious expression on his face. "You two know each other?" he asks us and Ben smiles at me.
"Yeah, we went to high school together," he told everyone. I returned his smile.
What he doesn't tell everyone is that I had a massive crush on Ben before everything happened, and I have a suspicion that he liked me back then too, and might even still. I saw the look on his face after Evan kissed me back at the base. I didn't really know what I felt about that yet, though. I mean, Ben had been nice to me since I ran into him earlier today, and he had taken care of Sammy. But there was still Evan. Even though he was most likely dead, my heart still ached for him. I knew my heart would always belong to Evan Walker.
I looked across the campfire and saw Ringer staring at Ben. When she noticed me looking at her, she lowers her gaze to the fire, but I knew what I saw. Ringer liked Ben!
