-1A Lesson of Knowledge, A Lesson of Heart
Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter!
The night was still, and the stars were bright on the warm autumn night of September first. All the students were snuggled up tight in their toasty blankets upon their inviting four posters, all the students except for 15 year old Harry Potter. In the words of the infamous cold-hearted Severus Snape, "The little Golden Boy thinks he is far better then those here at Hogwarts and has refused to return."
The truth was far more disturbing however. Harry's Uncle Vernon would not allow him out of the house the entirety of the summer holidays preferring him to be the household servant even going as far as to move him back to his cupboard which was now far to small for him. He also refused to allow him to return to Hogwarts saying that he was to stay and do his chores. For every little thing wrong he was horribly beaten under the excuse that he was a cold blooded murderer who deserved all the pain he got and then some. Harry believed him as he was still overcome with guilt over the late Cedric Diggory so he did not fight back.
Back at Hogwarts Professor Snape was in a conference with Albus Dumbledore, the headmaster and his fellow professor, Minerva McGonagall. "Severus I know you believe that Mr. Potter is remaining home of his own accord, but I have a horrible feeling. Which is why I want you and Minerva to check up on him for me." Minerva was quite relieved, for once she had found Harry had not returned she got a sinking feeling at the pit of her stomach. Severus did not argue he would rather check so he did not pay for it later.
Minerva and Severus made their way to Number 4. The landscape was impeccable. (Which of course was due in no small part to imprisoned teenager inside.) Minerva gently knocked on the door which as soon as it opened to reveal the Dursley's it shut as they did not want the servant to have a way out. Minerva quickly cast a reducto curse and Severus stunned the family.
They began to search the house. They had torn the place apart and yet could not find the boy as they were trying to see if they had the wrong house they heard a nearly silent whimper coming from the little cupboard under the stairs. Severus unlocked the door to see a black and blue Harry Potter. The boy's body trembled in terror of the expected beating. "Harry its just Professors Snape and McGonagall don't you worry," Severus whispered scooping the boy he had wronged so many times into his arms.
"As they reached the apparition point Harry questioned where they were headed, and Severus whispered "Hogwarts" with that Harry gave a watery smile and whispered "home".
