-Prologue-
Carly's POV
I'm not usually a suspicious person, but for the past few weeks my best friend Sam Puckett has been acting really...I don't wanna say weird, but she's definitely been acting secretive about something. She's been getting these phone calls and won't tell me who is calling her. Also, she always has to go when she gets these phone calls, no matter what we're doing, and she won't say where she's going.
Plus, lately her clothes have gotten a little nicer, and she seems to have plenty of money of her own. Why, she hasn't bummed off of me for the longest. She even treated me and Freddie at the Groovy Smoothie a few times. Definitely not like her.
I had an idea of what Sam was up to though. I mean, isn't it obvious? Secret phone calls, secret meetings, new clothes, money in her pocket. It doesn't take a rocket scientist.
She has a new secret boyfriend! And she has the audacity to keep him a secret! How dare she!
I was going to get to the bottom of Sam's secret relationship and see this guy for myself. I figured the best way to do that would be to follow her next time she got one of those mystery phone calls.
My first chance came after the last bell rang and we were outside of our locker. Her phone rang...
"What up?" Sam answered
Their conversation was little beyond "Uh-huh", "yeah", and "Be right over". Whoever this new dude is, he isn't much of a conversationalist that's for sure.
"...I gotta run Carls."
"Surprise surprise."
"I know, again. But it's important."
"It's cool. We'll hook up later."
"Yeah, I'll be through later on. Peace.'
Sam left, but little did she know she would have a tail.
If Sam was anything, she was paranoid. I couldn't follow too close or she'd feel somebody following her. I gave her about twenty feet before I started following her. That was safe enough to tail her without her getting nervous, and even if she did turn around and see me, it would look like I was just going her way.
She led me all the way to the courtyard of Ridgemont High. She went out of the steel door, but I decided watched her though a window. She was so busted.
Sam went over to a oak tree not far from the door and looked around, obviously looking for her beau. A couple minutes later, a brunette girl about Sam's height came up to her, herself looking around for any on comers.
I was confused. Who was this girl, and why was she hugging Sam? Why did she grab Sam's butt like it was her property?
Why did she kiss Sam, and why did Sam kiss back!
