It should have been the happiest day of his life but it wasn't. How could this happen.

Why to him. What has he done wrong to deserve that?

Now he was standing on the deck of a ferryboat and was all alone. She wasn't with

him. She left him. She left him alone. He felt so empty.

He didn't know why it happened. Everything was okay but then she just left him. The

Love of his life was gone. Gone forever.

i "Derek it is time. We need to go."

That was all he needed to jump out of his bed. He had waited for this so long. Now it

finally happens. He ran over to her side of the bed and carried her and her bag

downstairs to the car. On the way to the hospital he called her doctor to let her know

that they are on their way.

They arrived at the hospital just minutes later because Derek was driving like an idiot.

"I'm glad we arrived here in one piece. Did you want to kill me and your daughter on

the way to the hospital." She said to him.

"Sorry sweetie. I'm just so happy." Derek answered her.

"I know me too but I really want the pain to stop. It hurts like hell." She told him during a contraction and while she was crashing his hand.

They made their way up to OB/GYN where Addison was waiting for them.

They got her into a room and Addison examined her cervix.

"Meredith you are already 8 cm dilated. I t should only take about another two to three hours."

"OMG. How should I survive this?" a shocked Meredith asked.

"You could have an epidural."

"No I want it to be a natural birth so no epidural."

"Whatever you want. I will be back in an hour to check for you."

"Okay"

Derek and Meredith spend the hour in pain. Meredith because of her contractions

and Derek because Meredith was crashing his hand. They also talked about names

for their baby girl.

They settled on the name Kaylen Ellen Shepherd.

At the time Addison came back Meredith was more than exhausted.

"How are you feeling?"

"Exausted. How long?"

"I don't know exactly but I'll examine you right now"

Addison started to examine Meredith. Suddenly the babys heart rate started to slow

down and the fetal monitor started to beep like crazy.

"What is happening? What is wrong with my baby?" Meredith asked frightened.

"Mer we have to get you into an OR. I need to get the baby out as soon as possible."

"Okay. Just please save her."

"I'll do my best"

Addison rushed Meredith into surgery. She performed an emergency c-section but at

the time she got the baby out she wasn't breathing anymore. Addison tried really

hard to save the little girls live but she couldn't do anything. Kaylen just didn't want to start breathing again.

Suddenly Meredith started coding. She was bleeding and it wouldn't stop. Addison

tried everything that was possible but she couldn't stop Meredith from bleeding.

Meredith died only five minutes after her little girl died.

Addison went out to tell Derek. She had no idea how to tell him. She had done this

countless times but she never had to tell one of her friends that the love of his life

and his daughter both died.

Just thinking about that made Derek break down again. How should he life without

them. He lost the two most important people in his life, his wife and love of his life

and his baby girl.

Derek couldn't handle that he just wanted to die.

At that moment he decided to jump of the ferryboat and just drown.
