Thoughts of Her

The moment he felt the searing agony of the arrow tearing through skin and sinew he knew that it would be his end, and his heart was heavy with regret.

He fell to his knees with three arrows embedded in his chest and arms, but the pain was starting to fade. Coldness swept over him, and he struggled to remember the warm days he had spent with her.

He had loved her. He saw her piercing eyes, and smiled at the way her hair fell down her back when she glanced over her shoulder. She did not belong to him, but his heart would forever be hers. He reached out to stroke her pale cheek, but his fingers touched only empty air.

Boromir closed his eyes.
