Lupin's Boxers
A prequel to Lupin's Summer and a follow-on to Lupin's Christmas
The early morning sun gleamed onto the wet spring grass of the Hogwarts grounds. Remus, his shirt and jeans in shreds, was putting his office back together after an unbearable night of pain. Yet he couldn't help but feel totally elated. The buzz from the greatest Christmas of his life hadn't yet ebbed away, and it was almost February.
Remus retired to his office above the classroom to change his clothes and found a small package wrapped in silver paper on his bed.
Reading the label, Remus discovered it was from Gomby, an old house elf Remus had befriended in his own Hogwarts days twenty years back. The message read:
Remus, friend of friends, I assume these belong to you as I discovered them in Miss Granger's room, under her bed in case you wondered.
"Cheeky bugger..." Remus muttered, pulling on a white blazer and black jeans.
He couldn't imagine why Gomby would assume that. Nothing had even happened. In fact, himself and Hermione had barely spoken since the end of the Christmas holidays. So whatever Gomby had found, did not belong to him.
Remus pulled the package open to discover a pair of silk black boxer shorts with shadow wolves in silver printed on them.
"Little pain in the backside!" Remus started, "He honestly thinks I'd be stupid enough to leave my underclothes in a student's bedroom of all places!"
Shaking his head, Remus put the boxers into his wardrobe for safe-keeping. If anyone wondered where they'd gone, he'd keep them just to find out why.
A sudden thought occurred to Remus that sent a furious shiver of jealousy up his spine.
"If these aren't my boxers, what the hell were they doing under Hermione's bed?"
