A tiny girl with long, blonde hair and big, blue eyes hugs her doll as she listens to her parents argue. At the age of six, she can't understand why they're fighting, but her father shouts something angrily, and she hears a loud bang. Susannah flinches and yelps. A few minutes later, her father enters her room. "Daddy, what was that?" Susannah asked quietly. "A big bad monster," her father says hoarsely. "We need to go. Now." The girl's eyes widen in fear, but she lets her father take her hand and lead her to the blue truck in the driveway. They drive out of the small town and stop at the edge of the vast woods, a mansion looming in the distance. Susannah's father jumps out of the truck and takes her hand. They begin walking towards the mansion, neither of them aware of how much it would mean to Susannah later on. The sun begins to set, and her father sits on a rock and begins to cry. Susannah watches, confused. When he finally looks up, his eyes are red and angry. He grabs Susannahs throat, and she tries to squirm away. "Daddy!" She chokes. "Stop!" "I'm sorry, Susan," her father says. "I-" He gasps, the blood draining from his face. His grip loosens, and Susannah falls to the ground, coughing. Her father looks down at the black tendril that peirced his torso, then slumps over, dead. Once Susannah revives, she notices a loud static in the air.
