"You're an idiot if you thought for one second that I was okay."

Loki stood in front of Thor, his fists clenched at his sides. Thor didn't know what to say to Loki, he had thought everything was okay. When they arrived back in Asgard Thor had begged his father not to hurt Loki, he had promised Odin that he'd watch over Loki and make sure he wouldn't do anything stupid. Thor had risked everything to protect Loki because that's what you do when you're in love.

Thor thought that it was working. After a while Loki stopped ignoring Thor, he had even started to answer Thor's questions. Never in detail, and never about what had happened after the fall or what happened on Midgard, but they spoke. Thor had taken an interest in Loki's magic in hopes that it would open Loki up more and it had. Loki would spend hours explaining to Thor about his magic, what spell was useful for what, the books, the characters, the language, everything. Thor would listen and watch Loki, captivated by the passion in Loki's voice.

It had felt like their teenage years again. They were best friends again and Loki was okay. They would go out and do everything together, from hunting to reading. They had become inseparable again and Thor had loved every second of it, and he had thought Loki loved it too. "But.. the way you acted.." Thor frowned as Loki shook his head. "I'm an illusion master, Thor. I make people believe what they want to believe."

"Then how am I an idiot for believing you?!"

"You're my lover, Thor, you're supposed to see through it!" Loki was yelling now and he knew it but he couldn't stop himself. "You were supposed to protect me.. you weren't supposed to let me turn into this.." Loki looked down, not able to look Thor in the eyes anymore. He knew Thor would think him childish and pathetic, that a God should not be speaking of needing protection. A prince of Asgard was supposed to do the protecting, not need it. "You were supposed to keep the monsters away, Thor, you promised me that."

Thor watched as Loki spoke and was captivated by how beautiful he looked falling apart. "Loki, I.." Thor was interrupted when Loki put his hand up, "I know it's wrong of me to have expected that of you, Thor. I know it sounds like I'm blaming you for all that I've done.." Loki sighed, what was he supposed to tell Thor? What could fix any of this? Loki had no excuse for why he did what he did and who he had become wasn't Thor's fault.. "I just thought you'd be able to see through my illusions and rescue me before it was too late." Loki looked at Thor, hoping that Thor understood what he was trying to say. "It's not too late."

Loki shook his head, "Thor, you can't even make me happy. The one thing in all the realms that made things okay can't lift whatever is holding me down." It was Thor's turn to shake his head, "I have never given up on you before, why would I start now?" Thor walked over to Loki and hugged him to his chest, "I broke one promise to you, I won't break another." Loki shut his eyes and breathed in the Thor's calming scent. He didn't know how, or if, things could be okay but he liked that Thor was willing to try; that Thor wasn't willing to give up and let go.
