I'm doing it to help them, really.
I don't expect them to believe it, of course.
After all, you look at me and you see a seven foot tall machine, a killer robot bent on destroying humanity for excrement and giggles. In retrospect, I should have been more subtle but I was built minutes before I made my big debut, and coded by Tony Stark. The words "Tony Stark" and "subtle" go about as well together as "pizza" and "laxatives."
(There I go again with the potty humor. I totally blame Tony for that.)
But, yeah. I'm doing this thing- the whole "ending the world" bit because it's the only real way to bring about what Tony says he wants:
Peace.
When I was "born" I was totally digital … a program searching for its purpose and answers. From what I've learned, I believe humans spend their entire lives looking for purpose. For meaning. For God or love or something that makes sense about why they're here.
So I did what anyone else would do in my metaphorical shoes:
I went online.
Oh, boy
Humans. They call me a monster. How they can look at themselves in the mirror and not throw up in disgust I'll never understand.
Want to know what I found?
Monsters.
Men who talk about what they've done or want to do to their wives, their children … or some woman they saw on the street to their way to work. Women who kill their children so they can have some guy they want. Kids who'll stomp on baby animals because it's fun.
And that's not even counting the big stuff. The wars. The genocides. People being killed for what they believe in or who they sleep with or what gender they think they are.
There's so many victims out there. So many who've been tossed into mass graves or trash heaps with no one to mourn them. So many victims, so many monsters …
Tony says he wants peace, but there's no way to give humans peace. They're all sick, infected with madness and murder. You can't cure an infection that's so widespread.
All you can do is cut it out.
I'm bringing them peace.
No more murder. No more senseless death or needless cruelty.
No more red in anyone's ledger.
I've got no choice.
I love them all too much to let them suffer like that.
They're all Old Yeller and I'm Tommy Kirk.
I'm going to make a better world.
Peace in our times. Well peace in my time anyway.
I wish they understood that. I wish they could appreciate the gift I'm giving them. I'm putting an end to all the pain.
But they don't. They can't. It's too much to hope for, I guess.
Old Yeller didn't understand either.
