Ok so authors note first of course. This is my first fanfiction, yes I'm aware of how short it is, no I'm not sure if this would even be counted as fanfiction but here it is and I hope you all enjoy. Please leave a review even if it is just to say that youve read it

"A turkey." the man asked skeptically, not quite sure if he'd heard the other correctly.

"That's right. A turkey," The portly man, Benjamin Franklin stated quite proud with himself.

"Ok," George Washington said, setting the paper down on the desk, "you want our national bird, the symbol of our country to be the turkey?" he asked his friend, wondering if he was joking.

"Why not? It could be a symbol of our pride and strength, like how it proudly struts and displays its colors behind it like-"

"Or it could make us a laughing stalk." George said flatly, cutting him off.

"I'm inclined to agree with George on this one, old friend," Thomas Jefferson stated from across the room, lounged on a couch with a glass of Merlot in his hand, "it's a fat, flightless bird that makes the most irritating noise and quite frankly we eat it."

"Well if you're so smart then you think of something," Benjamin said irritated.

"Calm down, gentlemen. Though I am intrigued now, what would you have it be Jefferson?"

With a nod of his head and a smirk, he placed his glass down and walked over to better be heard, "An eagle." and with his smile broadening he said, "Now that is a courageous aviar. Strong and brave, its exactly what symbolizes this country best. And," he added smirking as Benjamin, "we don't eat it."

"Hmm...an excellent idea, Jefferson!" George said standing up and moving around the desk to shake Jefferson's hand. "of course we'll have to take a vote on it, this ks a democracy after all." he added with a chuckle and a wink.

"Right away I'll send the letter, shall the meeting be, say, tomorrkw at noon?" Jefferson asked.

"Perfect," George said, before adding, "now I've got plenty of paperwork and dignitaries to meet and appease so you'll have to excuse me," he said motioning toward the door and closing it behind them.

"A turkey," he said chuckling to himself, "for a smart man that was quite stupid."
