In This Moment

His hands caressed hers lightly as he pulled her to her feet. She smiled a small sad smile knowing his intentions.

Harry spun her around, once twice, three times. Her soft laughter rang through the music and he smiled back at her, succeeding in breaking her out of her sadness concerning their best friend.

Twirling around, laughing, and dancing across the little space in their tent, the lights dimmed and neither one noticed.

Hermione let out a slight gasp as Harry dipped her low, laughter cutting short as she held onto his shoulder and hand.

Emerald eyes gazed into chocolate brown eyes, emotions flowing freely. Harry felt the sudden primal urge to kiss her, his best friend. He blinked and she pulled herself out of his grasp.

Silence fell over them and they awkwardly moved to their makeshift beds, no words exchanged for the rest of the night, each lost in their own thoughts.

He could not tear his eyes away from the scene in front of him, though it was pure dark magic, it had him captivated, time seemed to slow down. Ron lay on the other side, frozen at the sight in shock.

The billowing black smoke parted to show Harry and Hermione locked in a passionate kiss, completely nude, hands raking over the other's body.

Harry yelled out to Ron to destroy it, finally finding his voice as he continued watching the scene before him.

Finally something snapped and Ron slammed the sword of Godric into the locket, the clouds of black and the haunting images it had brought forth disappearing completely.

Harry lay in his makeshift bed that night tossing and turning, unable to sleep, the images from the locket haunting him. He tried to think of Ginny, tried to replace Hermione's image with the red haired female but to no avail, nothing worked.

A growl of exasperation escaped his lips and he sat up, throwing the covers off of himself. Irritated and frustrated, he grabbed his wand and walked out of the tent, the brisk night air embracing him as he sat outside away from their makeshift campsite.

"Harry?"

The one person he'd been trying all night to rid his mind of, came up behind him, a worried look in her brown eyes as she sat down next to him.

"Yes?"

"Are you okay? I couldn't sleep so I thought I'd get a bit of fresh air."

Harry sighed, "I'm fine, I couldn't sleep either."

They sat in silence together, each lost in their own thoughts for a while, not sure how much time passed.

"Hermione?"

Harry's voice broke her out of her thoughts and she turned to face him, his emerald eyes searching her's. "Yes?"

Taking a deep breath, Harry's lips crashed onto hers. She forgot how to breathe in that moment before kissing him back, her hands encircling his neck as he pulled her closer.
