Disclaimer: Sanctuary and Warehouse 13 aren't mine. If they were, there'd have been lots more sex and far less science/artifacts... just sayin'. (see profile for a REAL disclaimer)
A/N: Written for windandthestars over on LJ, who requested the prompt, "Helen/H.G, cheeky monkey."
It had been over a hundred years since she last saw Helena Wells- since they last shared tea and exchanged scientific theories on lazy Saturday afternoons- and she was surprised to find just how easy it was between them after such an extended length of time.
"No, I will not take it back," Helena teased, and Magnus could see from the other end of the couch that the laughter had actually reached her eyes for the first time since she'd arrived, it hadn't been forced or put on like a show, "I was gone a long time, Helen, but I still know a beautiful woman when I see one."
She felt her cheeks heat slightly, thankful for the dim light that the nearby fireplace provided, and found herself smirking saucily in response, "You always were a cheeky monkey. I don't know why I'd assumed that had changed over the decades."
Helena laughed this time, with her head tilted back, like she didn't have a care in the world. They'd been sitting there for hours drinking wine and chatting like they used to, and that was the first time that Magnus saw a glimpse of who the other woman used to be, the one she'd been before they found out that John was The Ripper and Christina was murdered.
It wasn't much- a laugh, a smile, a lingering gaze trailing down her body that set her insides aflutter- but it was a start, and that was all Helena really needed. Everyone deserved a second chance and Magnus was determined to provide that for her long lost friend, no matter the cost.
End.
