This was forbidden, they both knew it. The soft feeling of lips touching gently. It would happen this once and then never again. Or maybe once more? Did either dare ask what would happen if the kisses were never ending and time was allowed to flow on a continuous loop of happiness? Neither would though it was a thought that invaded each mind every day. Was the temptation enough and would it last forever?
She smiled at him gently, knowing that her world was not for him and his world was not truly for her, no matter what her dreams told her. And he smiled gently back, knowing that this meant no. There would be no fairytale ending, she would be the mortal that he would never forget. He would be the dream that kept her from despairing at reality.
He pulled her closer, hands around her waist. She moved her face to his. Once more. Their lips touched and she could taste paradise, it tasted of nothing more than him and that was the only way she could ever describe it. He was blown away by the sheer beauty of the moment, holding what was the only thing he had ever truly wanted, the only person he would have ever given the stars too. And she was out of his reach. She would never taste paradise again.
They both stepped back. What a bittersweet goodbye, no words, just a simple kiss she thought as he faded from view. He watched her fade, putting her face to memory, something he knew he would never forget. He would only see her in dreams, and she would be forever out of reach.
"Sleep well Sarah".
