"I love you."

Hiccup blinked. "Wh... what?"

"I said... I love you."

His mind was racing. He loves me? This must be a cruel joke. "You... what?"

Jack sighed in frustration. "I love you, dumb shit." He smiled, that perfect smile that Hiccup could never get over. God, he's incredible. "I think you're perfect. You are perfect."

Hiccup felt his face get hot. "But- but I-" He didn't know what to say. Do I say I love him? I do, I love him, but what if he really is joking? Why would anyone joke about that? Suddenly, Jack frowned, his face turning red.

"I- I understand. It's- I'm going too fast, I'm sorry..." He looked away, his hand on the back of his neck. "I-I can leave, if you want-"

"No!" Hiccup grabbed his hand. "No, don't leave. I-" He took a deep breath. "I... I love you, too."

His grin put the sun to shame. "You do?"

"Yeah, I... I think I do." Soon, Hiccup was smiling, too. "I do. I love you."

His smile somehow brightened, and suddenly he spun Hiccup around in a hug. "He loves me! You love me!" He put the boy down, holding his hands. Hiccup lifted them up, crossing between them and going on his tiptoes to plant a kiss on Jack's lips.

"I love you."

"I love you, too."
