Four-year-old David Hatter sat at his great-grandfather's table. The man was as mad as a March Hare. And considering that the man was as mad as one, he had good reason to say that. His great-grandmother, Alice, smiled down the table at him. "Tea, David?" she asked.
The little boy loved being left with his great-grandparents, near the Tulgy Wood. He had always wanted to see a Jabberwocky, but he had yet to see one. No one knew that the Alice who sat at the table was the Alice from the Legend. "Yes, please?"
Alice, he knew, had been raised in Victorian England, whatever that was. It was where he had gotten his accent after all.
Twenty-eight-year-old Hatter, spun around in his chair. Oh, bloody hell. Replace that hair with blonde, and he'd have a younger version of his now deceased great-grandmother.
"It's the Alice of Legend."
"Bullshit. The Alice of Legend died when I was ten. I went to her funeral. Tarrant followed not long after," he thought as he looked the newest Alice to venture to Underland. When the White Queen, Mirana, had died, the Queen of Hearts took over. Her daughter, the newest Queen of Hearts, was just as vicious. Well, this was to be an interesting journey… "How come us Hightopp's end up following Alices?"
It had been three weeks since Alice had stepped through the Looking Glass. Oh, how he missed her. Jack Heart and Charlie had to shove him through the Looking Glass. When he held her in his arms and whispered, "Finally," he knew all was right with the world. Both worlds.
As he got into bed that night, in Jack's old apartment, he could almost hear Alice Hightopp's voice. "I'm proud of you, Davy-boy. I left my world for the love of my life. You left Underland for yours."
Hatter blamed it on three weeks of no sleep when he heard his great-grandfather's voice say, "She is a true Alice. Only an Alice can bring the whole deck of cards down."
So, I have no clue where this came from. I meant to expand this and actually have Hatter and Alice watch Tim Burton's version and him going "Oh shit." over it. But that didn't turn out right so I cut it out. I wrote this about a year ago, and I kept meaning to post it, I just never did. Read and Review please. Oh, and this has not been betaed and it has nothing to do with ODaT or OFaB.
