Mega Man's trademark blue armor was burned and cracked, with patches missing in many places. Finally, after all these years, Wily had trumped him.

As Wily watched in elation and Dr. Light watched in horror, Mega Man uttered his last words.

"I'm sorry...Dr. Light...I've...failed you...and...the world..." With that, the blue bomber collapsed and his power core overloaded, blowing his body apart.

"Hah! Who's the superior man now, Thomas?! Your blue brat was no match for my genius war machine!" yelled Dr. Wily in triumph. Next to the doctor, Bass stood absolutely still. Mega Man was supposed to be his to kill, and nobody else's. His to kill. His to kill. HIS TO KILL.

Nearby, Dr. Wily had exited his machine and was dancing with a Sniper Joe. "Come now, Bass, with Mega Man gone, you're the strongest robot now...!" The doctor's statement was interrupted as the Sniper Joe was ripped in half by a volley of plasma shots.

"Mega Man is mine, you old coot. And you killed him."

"Don't be absurd Bass, Mega Man kicked your butt every time you fought against him! You couldn't defeat him anyhow!"

That was the final straw. "Treble!" Bass called. With a flash of purple the robotic wolf teleported in. "Show this senile old fool what we do to people that stand in our way." As Bass uttered those words, Treble began to change shape. With another flash of light, the two merged into the Treble Boost. Before Wily could react, Bass seized him by the throat and pinned him against the ceiling.

"I don't care if Mega Man's beaten me so far; one day, it will happen. If you didn't kill him first. Any last words?" Bass snarled in rage.

"How dare you turn against your master and threaten him! Do not forget that I created you!" gasped Wily through Bass's chokehold.

Bass ignored Wily's words and squeezed even harder. Suddenly there was a crisp snapping sound as the doctor's neck snapped.

Treble unfused from Bass and looked up at him in confusion. The latter said nothing.

Suddenly a voice behind him spoke up.

"Thank you for saving me the trouble Bass."
