-Sunshine-
Short little thing inspired by Queer As Folk and numerou pictures of Eric/Greg. Nick and Greg aren't mine. Enjoy!
"Hey, Sunshine!" Nick called, spotting his lover seated in their regular booth at the old-fashioned diner they often visited. He exchanged a polite 'hello' with Katie, the waitress who always took care of them before approaching the other.
Greg looked up, his thousand watt smile immediately lighting up the room, watching the Texan slide in across from him. "Hey, Nicky!" His grin got wider, if at all possible, as the elder leaned across the table to kiss him softly. "I thought you got called in to work today?"
Nick sighed, leaning back against the plastic bench. "I did. But after the guy came in and confessed, priority kind of dropped and Grissom let me go."
Katie was beside them now, smiling at her familiar customers. "Hmm, let me guess. A decaf coffee, two sugars, one cream and the steak and eggs for you…" She pointed to Nick. "And for Sunshine, orange juice and the chocolate chip pancake breakfast?"
"We're that predictable, aren't we?" Greg laughed, yet another grin crossing his features.
Katie laughed. "Only breakfast. I'm still learning your dinner pattern." She teased, not even bothering to write down the order. "It'll be out soon."
"Why does everyone call me that?" He asked Nick, once Katie had walked away.
"What?" Nick paused, brows furrowing in thought as he looked up from the jukebox he was trying to choose a song from. "Sunshine?"
The younger nodded. "I'd say you'd been watching too much Queer As Folk, but unless that can go for Katie, Catherine, Sara, three out of six of your sisters, and my grandmother… that idea kind of loses any and all credibility."
The Texan smiled, finally selecting 'When The Stars Go Blue' by Tim McGraw before returning his undivided attention to his lover. "Cause, baby, we've all seen you smile."
The younger man snorted in skepticism, ultimately resulting in the beginnings of yet another breathtaking grin. "Yeah, right."
"Seriously, have you ever seen yourself smile? It's like someone flipped a light switch. It lights up the whole room." Nick protested his lover's disbelief. "Much like it is right now." He leaned across the table to kiss Greg again. When he pulled away, he found himself smiling ear to ear as well. "And, it's contagious, too."
Now, Greg's smile was full blown, like it had been when he'd first seen Nick walk in. "I blame you, then, Stokes. Because that's the only time anyone ever calls me 'Sunshine.' When you're around to make me smile."
"Oh, I have no complaints at being held responsible for that, Greggo." He smirked, as their food arrived. "I wouldn't have it any other way."
