I was nervous.
Yes, me, Piper McLean, daughter of Aphrodite and Tristan McLean, the famous movie star, was nervous. In fact, I was practically shaking to my bones. Well, maybe that's an over exaggeration. I don't get that nervous…yet.
I saw Jason, his golden hair gleaming in the bright sun of Camp Half-Blood. I was really beginning to like this place, especially since I became Head Counselor. And I liked that I had power over Drew. Drew didn't do much these days except scowl and reapply makeup.
Jason was sitting by the lake, deep in thought. His eyebrows furrowed a little, and his toned arms showed. He was gorgeous…and I was just me.
But I really liked him. And weren't Aphrodite kids supposed to go after their crushes, not shy away from them?
I took a deep breath, and sat next to Jason.
"Any luck with the memories?" I asked.
Jason jumped a little, but when he saw me, his face relaxed into an easy smile. My heart melted, knowing I could just relax him.
Jason frowned a little bit. "No, not much. I'm getting some flashes of people though. At the Roman camp." Jason seemed a little reluctant to tell me about them, so I didn't ask. I knew he was already pretty stressed about the whole amnesia deal.
"Well," I said, a little playfully, "I'm always here if you need me. Stress troubles, camp troubles, girl troubles, or even boy troubles-though I hope not-I'm always here for you." I said it like I was teasing, but I actually meant every word I said.
Jason smiled and laughed comfortably. "Thanks Piper. You always know how to make me feel better."
I smiled too. "Of course. What kind of a friend would I be if I couldn't make you feel better?" I nudged him playfully. Jason smiled even wider and I was overjoyed when he grabbed my hand.
I leaned my head against his neck and stared at the rippling waves of the lake. The sun was setting, casting a beautiful orange glow on Jason's face.
I sighed. "I wish this moment never ended."
Jason seemed surprised. "Why? For all you know, it could just get better."
I was confused. "How could it get better?"
"Like this."
My stomach fluttered as Jason took a gentle hold over my face and we kissed in the sunset.
