Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter.
A/N: This is Oliver Wood's entry for the happiest moment challenge. This happens in his 7th year at Hogwarts.
"Hi, girls," I say as I sit down next to my three star Chasers. I have to discuss tactics with them.
"Hey," they reply.
"What's up?" Alicia Spinnet adds.
"Ya. It's not often that we are graced with your presence at breakfast," Angelina Johnson smirks.
"I feel so loved," I reply, laughing. "Moving on, I have some new ideas for the upcoming match."
"Of course you do," Katie Bell says.
"Well, as you all know, this match against Ravenclaw is a very big opportunity-" I get cut off by the sound of hundreds of screeching owls entering the Great Hall with mail for the students. To my surprise, a large brown Screech owl landed on my plate of eggs.
"Oo-whose owl is that, Oliver?" Katie asks.
"I have no idea," I say, trying to get the letter off of the owl, who did not want to stand still.
"Here you go," Spinnet gives the owl a piece of bacon, and he stops moving.
"Thanks," I send her a grateful smile.
"No problem. Now, get the letter," she reminds me.
"Oh, yeah," I laugh. I finally pull the letter off, and give the owl another piece of bacon for his trouble. He flies away, quickly.
I look down at the letter, and recognize the Puddlemere United sign on it. I get excited, seeing that. I rip apart the envelope, eager to read the letter.
"Nice job murdering the envelope, Wood," Angelina comments.
"Shhhh!" I say, frantically reading the letter. It says:
To Oliver Wood,
Many of my scouts have come to your quidditch games over the years. They are all very impressed with your keeper skills. After all of those reports, I decided to come, in disguise, to a game, as well. It is not often that I go and see prospects, in person, Mr. Wood, so congratulations on that accomplishment.
But, that is not the only thing I have to commend you on. Your performance on the pitch impressed me very much. And, as it happens, our keeper retired at the end of the last season.
Mr. Wood, I would like to ask you to join our team, as the Puddlemere United keeper. It would be a great honor to have someone with your skill on our team. Please let me know if you would like to take me up on my offer.
Congratulations once again on being given this opportunity.
I hope to hear from you soon,
Xavier Tespria
Puddlemere United Captain
Upon finishing the letter, I cannot do anything, but sit in a shocked stupor.
"What does the letter say,?" Katie asks. Unable to form words, I just thrust the letter at the three eager girls.
They read it together, and there is a minute of silence, as they realize what this means for me.
"Wow, Wood! This is amazing!" Angelina is the first to speak.
"This is just what you wanted," Katie says.
"You'll obviously say yes," Alicia says.
"You have to go write your parents, and tell them of this wonderful opportunity," Katie adds, always the practical one.
"Yeah, your right," I manage to get words out.
"I'm going to go tell the twins. They will not be happy if they find out later," Alicia gets up, and goes down the table.
"Oh, she has a good point. Maybe you should join her," Angelina points out."
"Ok." I say, moving to follow Alicia, whose already talking to the Gryffindor Beaters.
"Hey, guys," I say.
"Congrats, Wood." Fred says.
"We knew you would make it," George says.
"No doubt about it," Fred adds.
"Thanks!" I say, smiling at how awesome this is.
A/N: What do you guys think? I feel like this one came out really well, but I want to hear your opinions in reviews.
