This is a small fic-let I wrote a while ago. I need to start writing and posting again,
thus this entry. Please let me know what you think.
***Major Cliff-hanger Alert! Turn Back Now, while you still can!!!***
Maybe if I get enough feedback, I continue this...
Either way, I hope you enjoy.
"Gomen nasai"
By: Minzuno Raven
Her lips move slowly, mouthing the all too familiar phrase one final time. And the wind
comes sweeping it away, carries her whispered voice away, across many miles to rest
upon the ears of dear friends. Then they, upon hearing the soft voice, rise slowly from
their cushions, hackles rising with them, for they know deep within their hearts and deep
within their souls the true meaning of the small message.
There upon the cliff, the girl remains unaware, absorbed within the task before her. It is not
as she had first imagined; she can not simply forget everything and throw it all away blindly.
Fear and Guilt call her name, call her back toward the road, back toward safety. She is left
standing upon the edge, staring into oblivion as the wind dances around her, catching her
hair in its play; a stalemate.
They are running, the four of them, as fast as their legs can carry, and all the while a
deafening heartbeat pounds within their ears and the tingling feeling of fear pours through
their veins. One thought is shared, racing faster than any of them could ever hope to dash.
'Hurry… hurry… faster… I must run faster…'
So caught up in their mad race, the strange looks, confused questions and startled gasps
pass before blind eyes and fall on deaf ears; they have but one goal. Until a familiar red car
screeches to a halt not far ahead, and a familiar tall, dark man emerges from the vehicle.
When at last, the antagonizing slow ride slams to an end, the now group of five bursts forth
with haste, startling the lone girl, suddenly frozen near the cliff's edge.
And there she stands in all her majesty, beauty and grace oozing from every pore, as dark
raven strands of hair stir in the gentle wind. There she stands like a frightened doe caught by
a hunter against an impervious fence. Then as a last desperate act, she turns on them, twisting
her body and kicking off the ground to slowly rise in the air, drifting away from the cliff's brink.
The man tears forward, running as he never has before attempting to reach the free-falling maiden.
Upon the cliff's edge he kneels, sliding to a stop as he stretches his arm after, his fingers spread
in hope, his eyes wide with fear.
Four voices split the otherwise calm day, ring through the air, calling as one in desperation.
"REI-CHAN!"
"Gomen nasi…"
thus this entry. Please let me know what you think.
