Lisa and I should be planning our wedding. We may even have already been married, moved into our new flat, somewhere far away from bloody Cardiff, and the blackhole called Torchwood. I was gonna propose... the next Saturday... going to take her camping, our favorite site... set up the tent, have some supper, go on a moonlit hike and then ask her, right next to the lake that holds so many memories. I took her there on our second date, our first kiss was when we were sitting on a rock right by it, toes in the water. But Torchwood had to bring about the Cybermen... and then the Daleks... she was just grabbing her bag before we went out to lunch- we were going to grab a sandwich and sit on a park bench, just talking, I could just sit and talk to her forever- and then she said she'd forgotten it and would meet me at the door. Then all of a sudden there was so much happening at once, screams, and bangs, the building falling to pieces... the world falling to pieces... I was pulled into a closet by some other survivor hiding from them, we stayed silent, praying they wouldn't find us... but then I remembered Lisa... if I'd just remembered her sooner... I opened the door and ran, I sprinted to the stairwell, up to her floor, to where she should be. Then I heard her screaming, telling them to let her go, not begging...my Lisa doesn't beg... but I heard her fear and desperation in that beautiful voice and I saw red... I yelled to her, told her I was coming, that I would find her...that I would save her... I looked around... so many explosions... every time I thought I'd almost found her I'd get blasted away by another. By the time the explosions died down and the battle was over I'd found her... abandoned halfway through the process. Still alive... still Lisa... but she was so scared, in so much pain... I took her from that thing... that machine... that atrocity of suffering and horror.
I got her out, into my car, she was screaming... I told her I'd get something to help. She told me to go get the machine, that she could tell me how to fix it so it would keep her alive. I went to get the machine, and I got all the medicine I could find and carry, and anything else I thought I might need to save her.
We got out, back home. I followed her instructions, but our little flat wasn't big enough, powerful enough to keep her for long without someone taking notice. So I came up with a plan... and I set out to find Torchwood three.
