Lily walked into the great hall and paused at the door as she saw him sat at a far table. She breathed deeply and strode towards him.
"Remus, I know."
Remus Lupin didn't look up from the book he was reading.
"How." he replied. His eyes now shut, deep in thought.
"Does it matter. I know. Can I talk to you about this?" She sat beside him at the table, placing her hand on the book in front of him. Remus looked at Lily.
"You have beautiful eyes Lily."
Lily sighed, "That really doesn't matter right now Remus." He regularly told her how beautiful her eyes were, which she liked, but that wasn't important anymore. Not since she found out.
Remus looked deep into Lily's bright green eyes. They truly were, beautiful. "Does this change anything?"
Lily shook her head and smiled. "Of course not!" Her voice lowered. "You know, I will always love you. I just wish you had told me sooner Remus".
He smiled, and breathed a deep sigh of relief. "You really are amazing Miss Evans." He placed his hand on her leg underneath the table, checking for onlookers.
"Please, don't call me Evans, or even Miss Evans, it makes me think I am with James." Lily sighed. "I honestly don't know what to do Remus. I love you, with all my heart. And now I know this, I never want to leave your side. I promise you, I want to support you forever. Show you how much you mean to me.." Her voice was speeding up, her heart racing. "I know people will judge you for this, and I want to protect you. Always." a lone tear rolled down Lily's cheek. She quickly wiped it away with the sleeve of her robes.
"Lily I love you too, and that mean so much to me, more than you will ever realise. But, what about James? You can't hurt him. He has been a great friend to me, and a wonderful boyfriend to you, I'm sure."
Lily nodded, she whole heartedly agreed. But she also loved Remus.
What was she to do, Choose James and have a happy, content normal life in the wizarding world?
Or choose Remus, and have a stressful, judgment filled life?
Which would she be more happy and content in?
Who would love her more, and provide her with more security?
She knew the answer to all of these questions, deep in her heart.
Her feeling towards Remus, as strong as they were, they were purely lust.
She had laid awake at night dreaming of hers and James' wedding. She had thought about having
children with James. First she would have a boy, and name him Harry James. Then when Harry started to
walk, a girl. She would be named Emma Lily. They would have a perfect little family. So, this
was it. This was her choice.
"Remus. You are right, I can't hurt him, and I love him. As I do you, but, we can't go on like this. I promise you Remus, you will forever be in my heart. Okay?"
She walked away, tears in her eyes. This was not the way she thought today would be.
