Broken

By: RealityBreakGirl

Dark Leo turned away from his brothers as they stared at him for sharing the meat. He didn't care how they looked at him. He didn't care what they thought. It was none of their business anyway! He steadfastly ignored the looks his brothers gave him and instead went over to the cabinet. Gently he got out the little bonsai tree that was the only thing that he brought with him from his time with the original turtles.

(Well, some part of his brain said, the only physical thing that he had brought with him from his time with the turtles)

Dark Leo—for that was indeed how he thought of himself, how he had been taught to think of himself—looked up at the feeling of eyes on him and found that Dunn was giving him a strange look. That look bespoke suspicion, distrust, and control. Dunn didn't trust that he could do his job anymore. Dunn didn't think that he could take out the originals anymore.

Dark Leo narrowed his eyes and his hands squeezed the pot of the tree. It was only when he heard it creak in protest that he let up on the pressure he was giving it. Dunn turned away and back to whatever it was that he was doing. Dark Leo stayed oriented towards his tree.

"What's that?" Dark Don asked, coming up behind Dark Leo.

"It's a bonsai tree." Dark Leo said "It…it was a gift. It was supposed to teach me to take care of things or something. I don't know why I even brought the stupid thing."

"Hm…" Dark Don gave him an appraising look.

Dark Leo growled, suddenly sweeping his hand back and striking the other with it. "Don't even look at me like that! I know what you're thinking and it's not true! So get that out of your head right now!"

This had caught the attention of the other two turtles and they watched, looking to see what Dark Don's next move might be. Depending on what it was, this could shape up to be an interesting fight.

But Dark Don just smirked, and got up slowly from the floor. "Maybe you should look after your little tree there" he said, and exited the room that they were all in.

Dark Raph and Dark Mikey exchanged puzzled looks, but after a glare from Dark Leo, they quickly went back to eating their meal, meager as it was.

Slowly, Dark Leo turned back around to look at his tree. It seemed that in the anger that overwhelmed him he had knocked the tree off of the table and onto the floor. It lay there broken and unfixable. That tree would never again grow or take back its place.

As he bent down to pick up the broken plant, Dark Leo couldn't help but think that this tree really did reflect him now. He was broken. Not because after the original Leonardo and the original other turtles had shown him what he could be and how his brothers could be he realized that they were living a wrong life, no, he was broken because now that he had been exposed to another life style, he wasn't sure he could go back to his. His lifestyle, the way he should be living. No, thanks to those originals he was now broken from a world he needed to live in.
