Title: 'Twas the Night Before Christmas: In The Key of Jate
Author's Notes: Originally written for the Secret Santa Exchange at The Fuse. Please enjoy and I hope that everyone has a safe and happy holiday season.
'Twas the day of the crash, Jack woke with a fright
A noise to his left, a dog in his sight.
He stood with some pain and lifted the bottle out,
And he wondered what the shaking was all about.
Through the jungle he ran, trying to find a way,
The screams of dying people, they were not okay.
So the doctor saved lives and helped many more,
Then settled in the sand cause his wound was very sore.
When a frightened girl appeared out of the blue,
Jack lifted his head and knew that was his cue.
"Excuse me,?" he asked, hoping she would aid,
To his relief she said yes and abruptly stayed.
She stitched his back with standard black thread
Her hands quickly stained with very dark red.
Then, she wondered, why he didn't seem afraid,
"Fear's a funny thing," he suddenly conveyed.
He recounted a story, so personal and true,
It touched her heart, this was something new.
The ultimate relationship was slowly taking form,
And she wondered, and marveled, how it made her feel warm!
He counted! Oh, he counted! One to five!
One, two three, four to survive!
Five came along! And the fear went away!
Kate may have ran! Far away! To her dismay!
But Jack didn't think that was true at all,
According to him, she was standing tall.
"You're not running now," he said,
But the truth of it was, she might have fled.
Then later, in a moment, they talked in the night
The fire and stars providing a little light.
The crash remembered in words, and images running around,
"I'm Jack." "Kate." And they were hopelessly bound.
This is how it began, on an island in the blue,
A real adult love story built only for two.
Verbal copulation helped in many ways,
And the hug of all hugs, helped to pass the days.
How a Smoke Monster chased them! It frightened them so!
And a stick of dynamite, was the only way to go!
They were never happy when they were far apart,
But "I've got your back" was their motto from the start.
"Golf is about accuracy," he said, flirting with her,
Smiles were exchanged, and things really began to stir.
Hurley had a big grin and Charlie did as well,
And the guys both thought, this development was pretty swell!
A first kiss in the jungle, the world seemed to fade,
But then Kate ran away, the emotions left her afraid!
Until getting caught in a net became the next phase,
And the words "I'm not" left her in a daze.
A glass wall separated them, fear held them tight,
And Jack's ultimate sacrifice, made her want to fight.
A count to five story retold by her,
His "Because I love you," left things in a blur.
Rescued from the island, part of the Oceanic Six crew,
An engagement soon followed and everything felt new.
Quickly plans unraveled, it really broke a heart,
But nothing in the world, could keep them apart!
