It was a calm night at Hogwarts, the moon was high in the sky, the creatures in the forbidden forest were at rest, and the residents of the large castle were all sleeping soundly away.
Except for two.
Fred and George Weasley prided themselves for being the next generation of marauders. Pranking and jokes were not just petty annoyances to the two red-haired twins, but an art that one must take time to master. Being imps to their fellow students and teachers was a high maintenance job, but they had the Marauder's map to help them along the way to avoid any surprises. Or so they thought, anyway.
Fred Weasley was writing down all possibilities of compacting dungbombs into a smaller, more smellier container when his twin spoke from his seat by the fireplace inside the desolate common room.
"George… do you know if Ron is gay?".
George's head shot up. "Not that I know of, I do believe he likes Hermione. Why?".
Fred's brow furrowed as he adjusted his legs onto the table, speaking uncertainly. "Well it seems as though there is someone named Peter sharing Ickle Ronniekins bed".
George got up and walked over to the seat opposite to him, sitting down to get a better view of the paper in his brother's hands.
"Huh. Would you look at that. I didn't think he liked blokes with all of the doting he does on our resident bookworm. Is he leading her on? I didn't think him the type".
Nodding, Fred refolded the paper with a "Mischief Managed". "He probably doesn't want anyone to know about this. We should keep it quiet, I'm sure he will tell the family eventually. Perhaps he is ashamed of being different from his crowd, do you know any other gay students that go here? Boy or girl?".
George shaked his head. "Maybe Malfoy. Have you seen the amount of attention he gives his hair? No one cares that much about hair, not even Hermione. But it doesn't matter. Those two would never do anything friendly together, gay or not. We will just have to be supportive of his attitudes whenever he decides to tell us; he wouldn't need any negative output to make him believe we think less of him. I doubt Mum or Dad would really be upset about it either, Mum would just use it as an excuse to give him more *cough* interesting clothes at Christmas".
"Right. But I do wonder who this Peter is, and if he's even from our house. I haven't heard of one here, unless he's from Ravenclaw? The kid who usually hangs out near the Patil twins?".
Fred nodded. "Could be. He did seem to look rather… excited when Ron talked to him about Quidditch. I wouldn't disregard it".
Rubbing his hands, George closed the map and stood up. "Alright then. And I know we are going to be supportive, but, ...maybe we could ask Ickle Ronniekins about his boyfriend without saying it outright".
Fred grinned "What do you have in mind?".
A/N: Hello. If you read this far, thanks! If you could leave a review on the way out, that would be lovely.
And If anyone was wondering, just for the sake of the story I'm having the twins forget just who Peter Pettigrew is. Sorry if there was a detail I forgot somewhere that would prevent this scenario.
Ciao!
