A "One-Shot" basically just because the idea of the little story hit me. lol.
Andy picked up her phone and dialed Miranda.
"YES Andréa…?"
"I wanted to call you and just say hi."
"HI?? That's all you wanted to say??"
"Urm…yes?"
"Well, let me tell you Miss Andréa, that I have much more to say than HI."
Miranda had absentmindedly walked over towards the stairs. When she realized what she was doing it was too late. She lost her balance and fell. Still clutching the phone in her left hand, she tried to reach out to the banister of the stairs, but was not close enough to stop her descent. She plummeted down till her legs got tangled in the banister columns and she hit her head.
*blood curdling screams come through the phone* "Miranda??? Are you OK?? MIRANDA!?!? Just hang on! I'm on my way!" Andy screamed into the phone for Miranda. She kept the line open between her and Miranda and raced to get to her car. She tried and tried to get Miranda to answer her and begging for her to hang on. Andy didn't know what had happened, but what she did know was that she needed to get to Miranda as soon as possible.
Andy raced to the townhouse, screeching and lifting tires with every turn. It's a damn miracle she didn't get pulled over by a cop.
She came to a screeching halt in front of the townhouse.
"Miranda! I'm here! I'm about to come inside! Just hold on a little while longer. Please!!" Andrea yelled into the phone, slammed her car door shut and sprinted towards the stairs to the door. She fumbled for the right key and finally acquired the right one. It swiftly went in just like it had a year ago. Thank god she didn't change her lock.
It was all one quick motion to Andy: the key going in, turning, and slamming the door wide open. She threw her phone on the ground and ran feverishly looking for Miranda. There on the second story steps, she found Miranda crumpled midway down the flight; cell phone still in hand.
"Miranda!!" She heard the woman moan in agony. "Don't move…I'm here...you'll be ok I promise!"
Andy called 911 and they rushed Miranda to the emergency room. The doctors had told Andy they would have to do surgery on Miranda to fix all the broken places in her legs and pelvis. She had taken quite a fall and her injuries were quite severe.
"She came through surgery fine, ma'am. We're afraid some of the bone fragments from her pelvis shot into her spine. We got it out, but she'll be lucky to walk again with the injuries she sustained.
Oh god no…she'll be devastated…
"Ok, thank you doctor. I'd like to tell her if that's alright." Andy said nervously. She knew she had better tell Miranda the bad news now other wise the doctor who did might have his head blown up by the dynamite stare that belonged to Miranda Priestly.
"Sure. The nurse will lead you to her room"
Andy walked into the room and saw Miranda. The look of agony and pain did not belong on this beautiful face. Not ever.
She walked over to Miranda and looked into her eyes. They were the grayest blue she had ever seen them. She saw the unshed tears welling up and the tear stained cheeks that moved with the words Thank You that seemed to whisper from the quivering lips of the woman in the hospital bed.
Then Andy woke up.
The End.
Anti-Climactic; I know.
