The emptiness of the halls carried the sigh of Karias Blerster. Five days have passed and there was no sight of Rajak Kertia. His heels clacked as he marched towards a specific direction. Normally, the both of them would be training together now. Not that they had set their sparring in stone, but it wasn't like the Kertia noble to not mention anything. He stopped in front of a door and the echo of his footsteps faded.
Karias sensed that he was in there. He cleared his throat and knocked. He waited for permission, but it never came. He knocked again, this time calling out his name.
Still neither word nor sound of movement. Neither was there an air of danger. Odd.
"Rajak, I'm coming in."
Karias opened the door, revealing a desk with stacked papers and folders neatly in their place. As Karias made his way closer to the desk, he had to cover his mouth to quiet his laughter. For as long as the Blerster head has known him, it was mainly due to luck that he's glimpsed at Rajak's peaceful face. Unmasked face! And no surprise that he was effortlessly maintaining a straight posture. Well, relaxing partially was a start. And so damn cute. This was not helping his rapid beating heart.
"Rajak." He walked around the desk to the napping noble's side. Gently, he brushed his fingers over his shoulders and laid his hand there, feeling the rise and fall of his breathing.
His expression softened as he understood and murmured, "If you were tired, why didn't you say so?" He took Rajak's hand into his. Feeling that his hand wasn't as warm as he thought it'd be, he wondered how long he had been napping. A thought came to him and now was the perfect chance to try it.
He faintly swirled his finger in patterns on Rajak's palm. Up and down, side to side—he repeated these movements over and over until Rajak finally stirred.
"Karias." His voice was above a whisper as he was still shaking off the drowsiness. What was he doing here? And more importantly…
"Why are you holding my hand?"
He blurted, "Because you're not the only one with secret moves." With a wink and no explanation, Karias darted out the door. Now that he was out of Rajak's sight, he felt blood rush to his face. He must have been reading too many human novels and stories to think that tracing "I like you" would have some sort of effect. He chuckled amusedly at his own foolishness.
Rajak looked at the door, and then to his hand. He ran his thumb over where Karias had touched, sensing traces of his energy still lingering. Rajak's eyes twinkled with amusement. He didn't mean to scare Karias off. Strangely, he was disappointed that Karias didn't counter with some saccharine line. The next time he sees Karias, he would show him an even better secret move.
