After Gordon Gordon left it was just the two of them. A new layer of trust was formed tonight between them in Sweets office. They both learned something tonight; Everyone has secrets. Now they've shared their secrets.

" You wash I dry?" Brennan asked breaking the comfortable silence between them.

Booth smiled and began to wash the dishes. He knew Brennan. She would never being up the subject of what happened in Sweets office. The time to open up was over, now she had to rebuild her walls.

Halfway through washing the dishes Booth handed Brennan a plate. He thought she had it but it skipped right through her slippery fingers. Brennans eyes went wide as saucers and her breathing started to rapidly increase

"bones"

Brennan began to tremble and tears formed in her eyes as she stared at the tiny pieces of shattered plate on the floor.

" bones" Booth tried to get her attention.

Brennan ignored him and dropped to her knees. Tears began to fall as she hastily began to pick up the sharp pieces with her fingers

" hey!" Booth dropped to his knees and grabbed her arms to stop her "Bones!"

Brennan flinched and cried out " please don't hurt me sir I'm sorry I didn't mean to drop the plate. Please don't put me in the trunk again. I promise I'll clean it up I'm sorry!"

Booth instantly let go of her. She was having a flashback. He watched as She began to hyperventilate. To be honest with himself he was starting to panic too.

" Temperance!"

Her eyes shot up. They were no longer glassy but Her breathing did not settle down. She kept darting between the plate and booth as if she was trying to decipher which was actually real. Without another thought Booth reached out to Brennan and gently picked Her up and brought her to the couch. He sat her in his lap and he began to rub her back trying desperately to calm her down.

" it's okay" he soothed " I'm here its okay. There's no trunk. No punishment it was an accident. Its okay just breathe"

A few minutes later the only sound that was heard was a few hiccups from Brennan every half minute or so. She picked her head up from his shoulder. Gently Booth took his thumbs and wiped the years from Brennans face.

" I-Im sorry."

"Its okay" he whispered kissing her forehead " it was just an accident. I have tons of plates."

" When I felt it slip through my hands it was as if I was back there again. I wasnt here, or at least I thought I wasnt. All I saw was the plate. I couldn't breathe" she looked at him with fresh years forming in her eyes.

Booth began to run his fingers through her hair at an attempt to keep her calm "You had a flashback. I used to get them when I got back from my first tour. They are scary sometimes. But after a while you can teach yourself to calm down"

Brennan nodded in understanding. " Booth?"

" Yeah bones?" he asked continuing to stroke her hair.

" I think I cut myself"

They both looked down to see the tips of her fingers bleeding. He moved her off of his lap and padded into the bathroom to grab his first aid kit and a pair of tweezers.

" You cut yourself trying to pick up the plate in a frenzy"he said more to himself then her but she nodded anyways.

She sat silently as he pulled the small shards out her fingers. He smiled

"hey bones I thought you would be whining your head off since there's so many nerve endings in the tips of your fingers "

Brennan rolled her eyes " they are phalanges Booth"

Booth smiled and kissed her forehead before returning to her fingers. Maybe dropping a plate every once in a while helped more than a heart to heart in an office
