It had been some time since Oliver had fallen down the turntable well. He had since come back from the works; and all the trucks did was start teasing him.

Duck and Toad were horrified by this, and they tried to silence their rudeness. They were also kind to Oliver, and tried to make him feel better, but that didn't work.

"Great- I bet I'm the only engine who has trouble with turntables." He muttered, and sadly left the Branchline.

Duck wanted to go after him, but Toad advised that Oliver will feel better if he thought about things.

...

Oliver was moping at Knapford when James and Percy both noticed that their friend was unhappy.

"What's wrong Oliver?" Asked Percy.

It's that stupid turntable! Oliver grumbled. I wish I never fell down it- now the trucks are laughing at me.

Well, turntables are nasty things James advised.

How would you know- did you have trouble with turntables?"

James has.

"What happened?" Asked Oliver, his curiosity intensifying.

"This happened right before I arrived, but I heard that Gordon tried to use a turntable- the one at Tidmouth Sheds, no less, and then apparently he couldn't balance it." Percy told him.

"So what happened next?"

"Thomas told me that he pulled the train backwards!" Chuckled Percy "He also told me that Gordon would have made a fine tank engine!"

Oliver hooted with glee.

"Oh I love to see him do that now!" He chortled.

"Anyhow, I had no trouble with the turntable." James cut in, a bit boastfully. "In fact, I had it going much too fast..." But he mumbled the last four words.

"What was that?" Oliver asked curiously.

"The turntable went too fast with James on it!" giggled Percy.

Oliver couldn't help but burst out into laughter.

"Oh dear, James!" He exclaimed helplessly.

"Edward thought it was funny too." Percy added innocently, before realising what he said.

"EDWARD?! How did HE find out?"

"His driver, who heard it from Gordon's driver!" squeaked Percy.

"Well, before you dive off the deep end James, I want to say that you two made me feel better about my plunge into the turntable well. Thanks"

"You're welcome Oliver." Replied the two brothers.

When Oliver returned to the Little Western, he refused to tell Toad why he wouldn't stop bursting into giggles.

Duck deemed him to have gone mad.

But Oliver told him that he was a complete quack.
