Step 1: Make your character look edgy. It's okay, people would like it regardless, as long as no one Shonen pops up and disgust himself in acid because of his tastes. But hey, this guide is meant to make an Arc Sys protagonist, so let's continue.

Step 2: Make your character a jerkass. Make him rude, cynical, pessimist, and a hard-boiled egg for no good reason. If you have a backstory for one, make that backstory lame and completely lacking any emotional sentiment what-so-ever. It's the only way to get your character to become a total jerk after all. Don't worry about Sol, he's exempted from this guide.

Step 3: Make your character arc look like character is more unlikable than likable, but don't worry! It will always please the viewers. Just make it so that your character does something this one doesn't like or this one does like, but all of it's done for a selfish reason. It shouldn't be too hard.

Step 4: When you conclude your character arc. Make sure that your character stays the same and changes through the course of the story, regardless of what's been made or not. NOTE: A static character isn't always a bad character. Just look at Sherlock Holmes!

Step 5: Make the character have a rival, but also make that rival a total jerkass! Want to quietly tip-toe away from being an Anti-Hero! No worries! Just make him crazier around the protagonist. It shouldn't hurt a single fly!

Step 6: Make the character's main villain a total monster. Don't worry! When that character finishes him off, make pretend like he's Son Goku, but a dead bird on the side of the street. When your character returns, the villain always gets away with all and no repercussions can exist. Hooray villains!

AN: If you're thinking about mocking this in review, go for it. I love to see some of the distasteful comments you guys have in mind. It is so funny!
