Chapter one – a bad dream
Flowers drifted in the gentle breeze, the sun beaming down and warming the silver she-cat's pelt. She'd never felt this great in all her life. Here, she was at peace. Here, she didn't have to think about the recent battle or the lives lost. Perfect. There was something vaguely familiar about the scenic location, but she decided not to dwell on it for too long. She wasn't going to fall into a state of brooding – that was what she was doing in the daylight world already. She didn't have to be a fake porcelain doll here. She was herself. A living being.
With a shriek of laughter, the silver tabby leaped high, scattering leaves and flowers in every direction. It was so vivid, so real, that she could feel the soft grass beneath her paws and feel the wind gently tugging against her fur. She liked this place. It felt like home. Only not her home, because her real home was with her family. In the daylight world.
And then everything went dark. She skidded to a halt, her heart beating wildly, and threw her head back, squinting into the sky. However, it wasn't a sky anymore – it was a block of black. Every noise of chattering birds came to a stop, and the wind wasn't even there now. Her ears twitched. What was happening?
She stepped forward warily. Everything had become cold, and she was slowly becoming numb. There was a gust of wind and with it, came fog. The fog blocked her view of everything. The only thing visible was her paws. And the fog. Her breath was coming in gasps now. She couldn't breathe. But why couldn't she? A thought came to her. This was her dream. She could do anything she wanted with it.
Focusing her attention on the shades of grey blurring her vision, she narrowed her eyes, willing it to move. It didn't. "Move." She hissed. "Please, just move!"
All of a sudden, there was a rush of sound and the fog was gone. She could see again! But what she saw in front of her wasn't what she wanted to see. There was blood everywhere and the scent of death hung angrily around her. She stepped forward.
A liquid met her paws. She looked down wildly – and began choking with fear. Blood had covered her paws, turning them from silver to a crimson red. She didn't want this. She wanted it to stop.
"Sorry, but no can do." A voice whispered in her ear. She whipped around and found herself staring at a she-cat. And she looked all too familiar.
"Who are you?" She questioned, her voice shaking with fear. "And why is this happening to me? Stop it, please!"
The she-cat laughed a cackling, insane laugh. "Why don't you take a look in that puddle and then tell me who I am?"
In a haze, she found a puddle and gazed into it. They shared way too many things in common. The same silvery pelt. The same midnight blue eyes and the same… everything. But how could they be the same cat?
"We're the same?" She guessed. "But how can you be me?"
"I'm not you." The laugh again. "Technically, we have the same body, but I am and never will be you."
"But-"The she-cat interrupted her.
"Ivypool." The she-cat grinned wickedly. "It's just a bad dream."
I really hope you enjoyed! It may be a little confusing, but you'll get it eventually.
Please R & R. I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks,
