AN: Hi yall, this is my first time writing a Brother Bear fanfic, and I am really excited! So I know that I also got a lot of other unfinished stories, but I don't care right now.
So I watched Brother Bear recently which was the first time in years, and I just really LOVE the relationship between Kenai and Koda! But when the movie was finished I just got a bit disappointed, for I really wanted more of the two brothers! A more clear reason why Koda forgave Kenai so fast, and also just more of them.
So I have decided to write my own fanfic, and I know not a lot is going to read it, but I don't care about that.
I will update this fic when I feel like it, and it can sometimes be set in different time periods, idk we'll see where this will head.
Anyhow, enjoy the story!

AN: The time period is set right after Kenai, Koda, and Denahi had left the mountain where Kenai, once again, was turned into a bear.
Three creatures walked beside each other down the snowy mountainside. Two of the creatures had paws that were stomping on the snow, and the other had feet that were silently pressed onto the surface, not making as much of a sound. These creatures were two bears and a man. An odd sight you might say, seeing them walk beside each other with smiles and calm faces. But there was a reason for that. For the biggest bear, who was a grown up and had a tan caramel colored fur, was actually related to the man, they were brothers. Kenai and Denahi.
Then there was the other bear, who was chocolate brown, and just a small cub, who was the 'adoptive' brother of the big bear. And the cub was named Koda.
"You should have seen your face when you found out!" Kenai, the big bear, laughed at his brother the man. But his brother didn't understand 'bear language', so he just rolled his eyes with a playful glare.
"I guess you're making fun of me?" He asked already knowing the answer.
Kenai nodded and playfully bumped his shoulder against his brother.
Koda looked up at the sky, his eyes moving back and forth as the Northlight was still dancing around. He then looked down and a sad frown appeared on his face. Oh, how he missed his mother, and it pained him more than anything that she was truly gone.
Then a tear escaped his eyelid and dropped down onto the ground. Little did the cub know that his brother, Kenai, was watching him. Kenai who had forgotten the incident for a few seconds instantly felt guilt fill his body.
'Oh, poor Koda,' The bear thought. 'I took everything away from him. I kILLED his mother. I was a monster, and yet he still came back for me... Why?'
Suddenly Kenai stopped in his tracks as they reached the end of the mountain, causing both of his brothers to look at him curiously.
"Somethin' wrong Kenai?" Koda asked. Then Kenai looked up, and his eyes connected with Koda's, and just as they did; the small cub winced, for Kenai's eyes were full of only heartbreak and despair.
Denahi's eyes widened also upon seeing his brother's face, for he had never seen Kenai look so sorrowful before.
"K- Koda I... I need to talk to you." Kenai said, his voice slightly cracking.
Koda gulped silently. "O- okay."
Kenai gave Denahi a look that said 'we'll be back soon' and his brother nodded understanding.
Koda and Kenai began walking down a small river stream. The chill wind blew past them giving Koda a small shiver. Suddenly Kenai came to a stop and sat down, Koda doing the same.
The smaller bear looked down at the stream of the river and gulped nervously, for the look Kenai gave earlier was a bit frightening to him. What if he had regretted staying with him? What if he wanted to become a man again? The thoughts whirled through Koda's head.
Suddenly the feeling of a strong paw wrapped around Koda, and he was pulled into a warm embrace. Koda looked up and saw Kenai had pulled him into a soft warm hug, his eyes closed in regret and pain.
"Why?" He suddenly asked, making Koda raise a brow.
"Why did you come back for me?" Kenai asked, and pulled Koda out of his embrace so that he could look in his eyes.
Koda was silent for a few seconds, and he sighed sadly. "Well, I just realized that brothers are forever, and you should never let enything get between that."
Kenai shook his head. "But Koda I killed your-" He bit his tongue realizing what he was about to say, and then shut his mouth.
He sighed heavily. "But Koda, what I... did... Is just unforgivable."
Once again Koda turned silent, and the silence made Kenai even more timid of what the cub was to say.
"Well, after I had... found out... I realized that everyone can change and that brothers should never give up on each other." Koda said. "No matter what..."
Kenai was speechless for the time being, and Koda said again, "And I also realized that it was never your true intention to... do what you did... You were just a heartbroken man that had lost his brother." Then Koda took a deep breath:
"And, I forgive you Kenai."
Kenai was absolutely speechless and tears streamed down his cheeks, as his mouth was hanging open. Then he picked up Koda and hugged him tightly, never wanting to let go. Koda instantly returned the embrace and nuzzled his face into the neck of his brother, tears of his own starting to roll down his cheeks.
"I love you, Koda." Kenai suddenly said as he held the bear close to his chest, and both of their eyes widened in a second of the words that Kenai had just blurted out, but then Koda smiled and hugged his brother even tighter. "I love you too, Kenai."
Denahi who had followed the two bears, and was standing little ways away, looked at the scene that took place before him in both wonder and happiness. He had never seen Kenai be so affectionate to any creature before, nor this protective and caring. He truly loved Koda, and that was clear to anyone. Kenai loved.
That was when it hit Denahi; Kenai had let love show him the way, and let it guide him.
He had become a man.

Kenai was at the ceremony, and he had finally become a man. Now as he had just marked his paw on the great wall, he could only look at it in true satisfaction and admire. Everyone cheered and brightened as he looked out at them, the drums and flutes filling the normally hushed air, and making melodies soar through the sky.
Suddenly Denahi came to Kenai's side and grabbed his ears playfully yet gently. Kenai pushed him away playfully, making Denahi land on the ground with a small thud as he chuckled. Then Koda came to Kenai's side and bumped his leg playfully with his two front paws, making Kenai look down. His playful look turned into a soft one as his eyes landed on the small cub that he so dearly had learned to love. Unlike what he did to Denahi, he instead wrapped his front leg around Koda and pulled him in for a small hug, making the cub giggle as he lightly nuzzled his brother. Then Kenai unwrapped his paw from around Koda, and he saw the childish look in his brother's eyes.
Kenai then remembered their whole journey, and how Koda would always have the glint of happiness in his eyes. At first, Kenai hated Koda, and his childish behavior, but now, it was one of the things he loved most about him. The way he laughed, the way he could make him laugh, and just his whole personality. The only time when Kenai had not seen the look of joy in Koda's eyes was when he told him the news... The way that Koda had looked at him like he was a monster, and how his joyful eyes turned dull and heartbroken, shattered Kenai's heart into a million pieces. He was so lucky to ever have Koda forgive him, which just proved how good of a being Koda really was, choosing forgiveness over grieve and hate.
Kenai smiled softly at Koda and then ruffled the fur on the top of his head. Kenai knew that it would take a long time for him to forgive himself for what he had done (if that day ever was to come) but all that mattered was Koda's love and his forgiveness. Then nothing else mattered. For as long as they were together they could get through anything.
Their brotherhood would certainly last forever.
AN: Ahhh it's done! idk what do you guys think? I really like it, and the way that Koda and Kenai love each other is just so pure.
But anyways thx for reading, ans I'll see you next time with another chapter.
bye!
