MINE

I remember the first time I ever met her. She was the most... sublime creature I'd ever seen. We were only eleven, and nothing really happened between us for years, but I would see her in the hallways, or in classes, or in the Slytherin Common room: Her crazy dark tresses, the very aura that would cloud my judgement. She was malicious, she was sadistic, she was beautiful.

I only noticed her; there were never any other girls. She had her way with men, oh, yes she did, but I waited, patiently. I knew she could take care of herself, but it didn't stop me from following her at Hogsmead, or sneaking around during the night, watching her with those boys. I never flew into an outrage, I never yelled, I never even sighed. I watched, and waited.

And when it was time for us to... officially join our Lord, just after our Seventh year, I think that is when she finally noticed me.

There was no spark in her eyes as she glanced me over. No smile, no flush of the cheeks. A look, and she was turned away. We returned to our respective homes.

My family, the Great and Proud Lestranges', got a letter a few weeks later that invited us to their home. My mother was taken aback, and spent all day getting Rasbastan and I ready. When we arrived, the first thing I saw was her.

She hadn't changed much in those few weeks. The only differences were that she had her hair done beautifully, and was dressed to match. I looked down at my dress robes, and felt a surge of confidence run through me. For once, my beautiful Bellatrix was by herself. I saw her two younger sisters, but I paid them no mind as I made my way to her.

"Bellatrix." I murmured, kissing her hand. She smirked, and when I looked into her eyes, I tried to convey every emotion I'd felt for her. She laughed, and turned her head to the youngest sister- Narcissa- who was pale and blond. I kissed her hand, as well, causing her her to blush and run off.

We danced and ate at Black Manor all night, and by the end of the night, when we all sat around by the Fireplace, Cygnus Black pulled me aside.

"As you may have known, Bellatrix is looking for a husband." His voice was void of emotion, I remembered that so clearly.

"And Rodolphus is looking for a wife." My father was suddenly present, standing next to me.

Cygnus's face flashed with, what I assumed excitement, before he continued in his monotone, "Ah, yes. Well, then, since we are both pure-blooded families, I see the only solution..."

My father was nodding along before I stuttered in. "You want us to get married?"

Both older men turned to look at me. "Do you have a problem with that?" Cygnus asked; his tone turned icy, almost in warning.

I turned back to see the most beautiful Bellatrix, sitting on a couch with her sisters. She was telling a story to them, her face twisting with each expression. She was malicious. She was sadistic. She was beautiful. And now, she would be mine. I felt myself heat up as I slowly turned my head back to the elder men.

"None whatsoever."

A/N: When reading how Bellatrix acts towards Voldemort- obeying every word he said, borderline obsessive-love- I had to wonder about her and Rodolphus's relationship. How it started out and what not. In my opinion, I see it as completely one sided: Him obsessed with and in love with her; Her, obsessed with Voldemort.

It's a 'marriage out of convenience', and I can see how parents would get involved, pushing to keep the pure-blood alive. Both Rodolphus and Bellatrix believe in pure blood, so I'm sure neither of them objected too much. I just think Bellatrix would prefer to be unmarried, unattached like her Lord.
