Dear Diary,
I'm a witch! I received a letter this morning from a school of magic called Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The letter stated that all students with magic in wizarding Britain attend this school once they turn eleven. I'm going to be twelve in the third week of school, but that doesn't matter because I have magic, and I'm going to work really hard to catch up.
Dad says not to be too excited yet, because until we can get to London and find out if a place called Diagon Alley really exists, we don't know if the letter is a joke or not. I try not to sho I'm excited, but it's difficult. Diagon Alley is a magical street where I can buy all my school supplies, including a wand! No one really liked me at my Junior School because I always knew all the answers. I think that because I have to start all over again I should be okay this time.
I wonder what type of magic we will be learning at Hogwarts. I think it would be something more impressive than pulling rabbits out of hats, but I won't know until we get the books. I wanted to go today, but Mum and Dad are working, so they said I will have to wait until Saturday. That's three whole days away and I don't want to wait that long. I think I'll go mad with waiting.
The good thing about all this is that it finally explains some of the weird things that I've seen happening. When I'm alone in my room and I'm thinking about reading a book, the book I'm thinking about sometimes falls of the shelf. Sometimes when it's getting dark and I'm still reading, the light switches on without me moving. I thanked my parents for this once, because I thought they did it, but they didn't know what I was talking about.
I'm hoping Saturday will prove that I really am a witch.
Goodnight Diary.
