Tinker Bell

By Albany McCabe

Thump. Thump. Tinkerbell's heart missed a beat. Peter was coming home. He had been visiting Wendy and her brothers. That was his story, anyway. Tink knew better. Peter only visited London to see Wendy. Oh, how he missed her! In his own way, Peter had told Wendy so. She had said that she would miss her family and would not come back to visit him. How Tink despised Wendy! She had stolen Peter away from her. If only Peter hadn't lost his shadow. Then Peter would have loved Tink. Maybe not. No. Tink refused to think about that. About the fact that even if Wendy had never existed, Peter would still have thought of Tink as little more than a friend. Peter believed strongly that a fairy and a human could never have a relationship. He wouldn't even say that Tink was a friend. Maybe she wasn't to him. He was to her. Tink could count on her hands ten times that Peter had told her to get a fairy boyfriend. Tink didn't want a fairy boyfriend. She wanted Peter. He was human, besides the fact that he could fly. Even that was only thanks to Tinker Bell's pixie dust. Sometimes that was all she felt Peter kept her for. Sighing, Tink flew out of the treehouse Peter and The Lost Boys had built. Tink had made the plans, but Tubby had eaten them, mistaking the paper for a chip. Chips. Hw Tink longed for one. Wendy's brother had brought a bag the first time he visited. Salt was a rare thing in Never Land. Captain Hook stole most of the salt that came into Never Land. Crash! Tink spun around in the air. Peter was sitting on the floor. Tink's bells rung in alarm. "It's alright Tink. I've just been having a hard time flying. Truthfully, I barely made it home." Peter stood up. "Could I have some more pixie dust? Just a little?" Tink took a moment to ponder what Peter had asked. If Peter couldn't fly, then he couldn't visit Wendy! That idea plunged downwards, only seconds after Tink thought. Peter would only get another fairy to give him pixe dust. Then he wouldn't like Tink anymore. Tink couldn't bare to think that Peter wouldn't like her. Tink shot some pixie dust at Peter. He started sneezing, just like he usually does. Tink's bells asked a quetsion to Peter. "No, she didn't agree to come visit. In fact, I think she's getting annoyed with me. I knocked over a bowl of water for Nana, and she had to clean it up. I'm not going to visit for awhile." Tink's face lit up with a bright smile. Now was the time to tell Peter how she felt about him. Her bells went off furiously. Peter listened intently. When Tink finished, his jaw dropped. "Wow. I had no idea you felt that way Tinker Bell. I like you too." Peter kissed his finger and put it to Tink's lips. Tink fluttered in the air and sat on Peter's shoulder. Peter said, "I've got some chips for you." Tink grabbed a salty chip and munched it thoughfuly. Peter smiled shyly. "Would you like to fly around Never Land with me, Tink?" Tink's belled rang out a clear yes. The two of them flew off into the clouds. They visited indians, mermaids, and teased Captain Hook. They finally had the happy ending that they deserved.
