This idea just popped into my head this morning. I'd say it's set somewhere before they docked in St Louis in the end of Season 2.

Hope all you Mommies had a fabulous Mother's Day! :)

First Mother's Day

Kara woke from a peaceful slumber to a firm knock on her cabin door. She stretched and sat up confused. She looked at her watch. 0740AM. She wasn't scheduled for another shift until 1300. She hauled her body out of the bottom bunk and touched her 18 week bump. Alisha had been kind enough to trade with her, knowing that once the pregnancy progressed it would be harder and harder to get down from the top bunk.

"Coming," Kara called softly as she ran a hand through her messy bun. She walked over to the door and unlocked it. She openned it a bit and frowned when she saw no one. She flung the door open all the way and looked down each hallway. No one. She then looked down and noticed a fresh fruit cup, a bottle of orange juice, and an envelope that had Kara printed on it.

"What the heck?" she said squatting down to pick up the items. She walked back into her cabin and set the juice and fruit on the desk while she openned the envelop. A pink card slid out and it had a cheesy rainbow on it and read "Happy Mother's Day" across the top. Kara let out a chuckle and openned the card.

Happy first unofficial Mother's Day, Kara. Thank you for protecting our little one at all costs.

I love you.

Danny

"Oh Danny," she whispered. Tears sprung to her eyes and she touched her baby bump through one of his Navy t-shirts she'd stolen once her belly had started growing.

"Your dad is the best," she said looking down at her bump. She took the fruit cup and sat on her bunk eatting it as she stared at the card. She hadn't even thought about today being Mother's Day.

"Lieutenant Green, can I have a word with you?" Kara asked as she met Danny in the P-way later that morning on her way to CIC. He was talking with Cruz and Miller about something and turned around to see her.

"Sure," he nodded looking at Cruz and Miller. Cruz nodded and patted Kara's shoulder on his way by.

"Ma'am," Miller nodded to her. Kara nodded back and smiled. Once they were alone, Kara smiled at him and motioned wit her head to the side closet. Danny nodded and lead her into it. Kara looked up at him touching his chest.

"Thank you for breakfast and the card," she told him with a soft smile. Danny nodded and grinned down at her.

"I'm sorry I couldn't stay, I had to run drills with the team," he apologized.

"It's ok. It was a nice surprise. I-I had no idea it was Mother's Day," she admitted softly. Danny nodded.

"I overhread Garnett talking with Bacon the other day about how hard it was going to be for her today. If she wasn't deployed, her husband and daughter would always bring her breakfast in bed. When we went inland a few days ago, I ran into one of the stores and grabbed the first card I found. Sorry it's so cheesy. Burke told me you'd laugh in my face. I just wanted to make sure to have something for you," he explained with a grin. Kara smiled and touched his stubly cheek.

"I love you, Danny Green, and I loved your cheesy card. It was amazingly sweet and I will treasure it forever," she admitted. Danny smiled down at her and then kissed her lips firmly. Kara smiled against his lips as she felt his hand touch her bump.

"Happy Mother's day, sweetheart," he told her. Kara smiled and nodded.

"Thank you for remembering," she smiled, tears stinging her eyes. Damn, pregnancy hormones.

"Have a good shift," he told her touching her cheek. She nodded.

"Thank you," she said again as they parted ways in the P-way.

The End.
