I Don't Love You; { Co-Written By: StruckByLovexx }
"Please." Her voice was so low the wind almost carried it away. "Don't go." Brittany's fingers intertwined with mine as she pressed up on her toes for a kiss. I backed away and tried tearing my hands from hers, but she held me tighter. She rocked back on her heals, defeated.
The ocean roared over our silence. All she wanted was my touch, my love and I refused to give it to her. Shed given me everything she could and yet it wasn't enough. It never changed how I felt. The wind slivered between us as the moon rose, bright and bold against the night sky. Mist rolled over the sand, engulfing everything in sight except Brittany. I wished it would take her with it.
Her eyes sparked with hope. "I remember." She said, her voice slightly cracking, and low.
I stared at her. She continued, her voice raising with chance. "I remember when we first met." She cradled my hands between hers, and took off running around me.
"We danced out here," she recalled with an edge of desperation to her voice. "And your arms were wrapped around my waist." She pressed closer to me and pulled my arms around her.
"Brittany," I warned, my voice serious and dull.
"We stayed until the sun came out, and my arms rested on your shoulders.. you kissed me." Her hand cupped my face as she tried once again to lock my lips with hers.
"Brittany!" I hissed and pushed her away. My steps quickened as I heard her running after me.
"Avin! Don't go! Don't leave me!" she pleaded.
"Leave me alone," I snapped. still walking.
"Why?!" she cried. Her fingertips brushed my shoulder and I shook her off with more force than needed. "Just tell me why!" Abruptly I stopped and wheeled around to face her. My breaths came in deep, angry puffs. Why wouldn't this girl leave me alone?
Her tears sparkled in the light of the moon as they streamed down her face. "Please," she whimpered. "I want to know why." She reached for me again and I pushed her hand away.
"Stop," I spat. "You're making a fool of yourself."
"Te amo!"
"Yo no te amo!" I shouted. She sucked back a breath of shock in stunned silence. The same lone gull let loose a mournful sound, high and piercing. Soon I realized it wasn't the gull - it was Brittany.
She stumbled back, as if she was losing her balance. "I thought—
"You thought wrong." I muttered, a silence settled between us and my own harsh words rang in my ears.
I don't love you.
Brittany collapsed to the sandy ground. Another terrible sound slipped from her lips.
"Te amo," she murmured reaching out toward me. I stepped away.
"I'm sorry, Brittany," I mumbled and turned my back on her. As I walked away in the lonely light of mist, the only thing I heard was her sobs.
"Te amo," she cried. "Te amo." I stopped in my tracks. Brittany did nothing but love me, sacrifice everything for me. I took a step back. She didn't deserve this. Brittany was all I could ever ask for, but yet again, my own words rung in my ears.
I don't love you.
I continued walking away, ignoring Brittany's words that attempted to pull me back. The further I got, the more the thunder of the water drowned her out, but I couldn't get her words out of my head.
"Te amo. Te amo!"
