Title: She Wasn't The Target

Author: Special Agent Meg

Rating: PG

Classification: General/Suspense

Spoilers: Twilight

Summary: One person's thought during the infamous moment on the roof.

I don't believe it. What on earth happened?

She was never supposed to be the target.

The first assassin aimed for Gibbs. Would have hit him too, if she hadn't jumped in the way. A SIG-Sauer rain shower made quick work of that mistake.

Gibbs was supposed to be the target. Not her. That bullet was meant for him.

She should not be dead.

I don't know what just happened, but someone is going to pay for this mistake. Both Gibbs and I will make sure of that.

I see Gibbs moving in the direction of the shot and I back away. I am not a Mountie. I will not get my man today.

I don't even realize I've spoken until I hear it. Two words.

Sorry, Caitlin.

THE END?

A/N: I wrote this in our public library. As I finished, I looked up – only to see an Ari look-alike right in front of me. I considered asking him to read the story and seeing if I was on target.
