Chapter 1 Confusion

My eyes flashed open. I felt the cool tears on my face. It was over. A dream, nightmare. The room was still dark. The only light that filleted in was from the moon light. I scanned my eyes across the room. I slowly wiped the tears from my eyed and got out of bed. I reached for my phone that laid on my desk. I dilad the number of my besty-bud — Leo — no answers only rings.

On about the fifth ring, his smooth voice answered. "Maloney, what's wrong?"

I didn't notice but my voice cracked. "Leo! He's gone! He left!" more tears came.

"Mel what are you talking about?"

I fell to the floor. "He's gone…" whispered as I shut my eyes closed with tears rolling. I laid on the floor numb.

I was awaken by the sound of a car. This surprised me that it wasn't the twins they probably still laid in there bed.

The car sounded close, screeching to a holt. My body numb. There was a click at my front door. Quite foot steps walked up my stairs "Mel?" His quite whisper broke the shear silence of my room.

My eyes didn't flash open. I just laid there not caring not even if it was Leo. Or that perv. that lived down the street.

"Mel!" I heard him say as he bent down. His cool fingers ran on my face. I shuddered. His strong arms picked me up and he slowly walked to put me on my bed. He was cold against my body but I didn't care.

I slowly reopened my eyes "Leo?" I said as I saw his orange flannel stick out in the small light that now came in my room.

"Yes?" he whispered, "what's wrong?"

I slowly sat up in my uncomfortable twin size bed. My hair sticking up from ends. "He left! He's gone!"

He smiled. His smile was so wonderful it made me just want to – "Mel if you're talking about Bobby you know I don't wanna" – I cut him off.

"Idiot! Do I look like I care about Bobby I was way over him since 3rd grade!"

He chuckled, "I know I just like bothering you." He smiled then frowned. "Then who left?"

I looked at his brilliant blue eyes that appeared gray in my room. "Alex." I whispered reaching for his cool hand.

He looked at me with cold eyes. He always took me seriously when I came to this. He reached for his phone, got off of my bed and walked towards the far end of my room with a remodeled chair. He began to talk rapidly into the phone.

My room was not as big as it used too before the twins. But I prefer my little room. There was a small window next to my bed it had a lace curtain hang over it. Like a pale yellow thing. At my bedside was a night table with a small thin lamp my father made me. The chair that Leo was at had new couching to be more comfortable. I look at the room the walls were painted a nice deep red. There was a desk beside the door with a pencil holder with no pencils in it.

I smiled, then began to frown, as Leo hang up his phone. He walked towards me. More light was shining in I could see his face. Pale face blue eyes light brown hair messy — just like I like it. He looked at me, "are you absolutely sure?"

I nodded for the fear that my voice would crack.

He nodded slowly I heard him growl in his chest. He took my hand then quietly whispered, "Its fine see you at school."

With that he walked out of my room and quietly back out the front door. And was gone.

I got up disoriented. Not know why. With this thought now in my head I wasn't able to go back to sleep. So, I pulled on my white t-shirt with the word's peace on it and my jeans that laid on the floor. Then sat at my desk waiting till it was the right time to get up.

"Maloney! Get down here! Now!" I heard my mother yell. I picked my head up from the desk. I must have fallen asleep. I got up and walked to the bathroom.

I washed my face and began to brush my teeth when I looked at myself.—light red brown hair wavy. Hazel green eyes. 5'7" awkward as normal and ivory skin. If it were up to me I look sick.—I cleaned out my toothbrush and tied my hair back I wasn't in the mode to comb it. Once done I ran down the stairs.

The twins were playing on the floor with there toys — oh to be young —I thought. "Bye mom, dad, Marie, James." I said snatching my book bag and opening the front door.

"No, no Me-w" Marie said walking towards me. Her little face glowed. Her hair light blond in pig-tails. She took my hand her little pink dress swayed as she walked me to the kitchen. I could help but smile.

She stopped in the hall, smiling at me. I bent down to hug her. "Marie I have to go if not I'll be late."

She frowned. "But Me-w you half two eat-w!"

I slowly got up and patted her little head. "Later okay," with this she frowned "promise." I continued.

She stammered of madly — she would be over it soon.

I turned back towards the door when my dad's voice came over the stairs — his dark green eyes stumbled with idiotic ideas. His light red hair thinning he was a tall man yet aging. He lived in the basement (not really he just spent most of his time there coming up with ideas) – he tried — "Mel you do have to eat."

"Dad I'll be fine."

"Honey," my mom now joined in. her short blonde hair and hazel eyes came walking out of the kitchen.— she was about my height a little shorter — worked as a kinder garden teacher. "You have to eat something."

Annoyed with the conversation I picked up an apple, held it up and said "happy?"

James who was quite the whole time snickered "by-w Me-w." he wave — he looked like Marie but without he dress right.

I laughed the n walked back outside. My car — ugly old thing. I said to myself getting in. — 98 mini cooper rusting at the paint, bummer stickers rubbing off. — Yet this ugly car has its place in my heart. I began to drive. What a dream.—I ran my mind though it again.

My car. Alex. Leo. Marcus. Jenny. Me. This was going too happened not today but real soon.

I kept driving to the school lot. My life was turned upside down after coming to High school. Middle school was normal and Elementary was well I don't know I was home school.

I finally reached the lot surprisingly no one was there I looked at the clock on the dashboard. 7:45. okay I was early but there should at lest be people. I parked my car.

I saw Leo walk towards my car. — He was tall and pale. Wearing the same orange flannel from the night. His amazing blue eyes, shocking on contact. — (When I first found out what he was I almost threw a rock at him and ran. – no I didn't run off but still.)

I looked at him as he approached me. "Leo, where is everyone?"

"Ditching we told them too."

"You didn't tell me!"

"That's because I have to talk to you."

"About Alex?"

"Exactly we have to tell Kerry and Max."

I nodded, life was never like this. He got to the drivers side he always like to drive without my permission I learned to accept that. I walked to the passenger's side and closed my eyes.

And went back, back to the time where it all began…
