Our story begins at Mario Stadium where the championship game is held and the Yoshi All-Stars is down 149-148 with no time left. The only way to win is to shoot 2 free throws from the free throw line and Yoshi volunteered to make them both.
The announcer said, "The game is not over yet, folks. With the Yoshi All-Stars down by 1, it's all up to Yoshi to save the team and the championship with 2 free throws coming. The question is can he make them both?"
The crowd cheered as Yoshi makes his way to the free throw line with Lakitu as the referee.
"OK Yoshi, you have 2 free throws and here's the situation." Lakitu said, "If you make 1, then we go into overtime but if you make them both, then you win for the team. Are you ready?"
Yoshi replied with a smile, "Let's do it!"
"OK Yoshi, we're all rooting for you and good luck!" Lakitu said as he gave the ball to Yoshi.
So Yoshi went to the line and bounced the ball 3 times and shot a perfect free throw which is a successful one.
The ball went through the net and tied the game for the All-Stars. The crowd is amazed and is cheering for Yoshi with 1 free throw left!
"Wow, Yoshi made the first of 2 which ties the game at 149!" the announcer shouted, "Now it all comes down to this, one free throw will decide Yoshi's fate for the team!"
Lakitu came back to Yoshi and said, "Amazing, you tied the game! Now here is your 2nd and final free throw. If you make it, then you win but if not, then we go to overtime. So Yoshi, are you ready for your final free throw?"
"I'm ready!" he replied.
"OK, this is for the game. Good luck and we're all rooting for you. Here's your basketball and start shooting!"
"This is it, if Yoshi makes this free throw, then he wins the championship!" the announcer said, "Let's cheer him on everyone, Go, Yoshi, Go!"
The crowd chanted along with him: "Go, Yoshi, Go! Go, Yoshi, Go!"
Yoshi is at the line with one free throw left in his hand. He bounced the ball 3 times and took his shooting position.
Then he took a deep breath and counted, "1… 2… 3… Shoot!!"
He released the ball with all of his might and the ball went around the net spinning clockwise for 3 turns, then it began to slow down.
"This is it, here it comes…" the announcer said, "Will it go in, or out?"
The crowd chanted, "In the net! In the net!"
All Yoshi has to do is to watch and wait for the ball to go in or out.
Then the ball went... IN THE NET!
"YES!" the announcer said, "He did it, Yoshi did it! I can't believe my own two eyes, Yoshi has won the game and in a spectacular finish by the team captain himself! Yes, the Yoshi All-Stars win 150-149! What a free throw, what a play, what a game!"
The crowd erupted in cheers as Yoshi made a spectacular free throw and they love it!
"I did it!" Yoshi proclaimed, "I made the game-winning free throw!"
And so, Yoshi is very happy with the free throw he made as his team joined in for the win.
