Knock knock.
She knows who's out the door.
But right now, she just wants to relax.
And forget him for a while.
A while would be fine.
--
She still hasn't gotten the door.
And he hasn't moved a bit.
He's there, patiently, waiting.
She thought about what he would do if she slept and left him standing there.
--
--
"Rima." He whispers. About thirty minutes had passed.
Sighing to herself, she got up and opened the door to him.
Then she left to lie down on the bed again, moving to the side this time.
He gets in too, and they continue to stare at the transparent glass ceiling.
The blue sky was above them, with the stars shining brightly.
--
There is silence between them.
And it was comfortable.
--
"Rima," He says again, after a long time of quietness.
"Yes?" she replies, her quiet voice tinkling in the dark.
"What are you thinking about?"
"Nothing," she says.
Her vision gets blocked as the skies she was watching was now Shiki, who was hovering over her.
"Seriously."
"...What happened today."
And with that he understands.
He goes back to his first position, lying down with one arm below his head.
Silence falls over them again.
--
"I don't love her, you know." He says suddenly.
She sat up and looked at him from the corner of her eye.
"What?"
"I said I don't love her," he says monotonously.
"Why?" she says, wrapping her arms around her legs.
"Because." He says.
A moment of silence.
"Arranged?" she says, being the one to break the silence now.
She knows about his mother's greed.
"Yeah." He replies.
"Then you shouldn't continue it." She says.
Something which he didn't think she'd say.
"Why marry someone you don't love?" she continues, looking up at the sky.
I have to know why I had to lose you.
By now Shiki also sat up to look at her.
It's quiet again.
Shiki had so many things he wanted to say.
But his response was a statement—more of a question—back at her.
"You sound like you have experience at this."
Yeah.
The guy I love is marrying someone else.
"What more would she feel when she finds out the guy she married doesn't love her back?"
"What was that?"
She didn't realize she'd said it out loud.
But apparently she whispered it out.
If I feel like this, how more would she when she figures out Shiki doesn't want her at all?
"You have to stop it, Shiki."
"I can't do that."
"Think about what she would think."
Shiki was speechless again.
"When she figures out the person she married doesn't want her."
Silence.
I was too late—the best I can do is help him be happy.
..I wish her happiness too.
"Shiki, you can't let this go on," she says, impatience painting her voice as she faces him.
"You won't be happy. And you'd hurt her too."
"Rima. Why do you care so much?"
She looks away as the tears threaten to fall down.
"Because I love you." She says.
Shock is evident on his face.
"You're my bestfriend."
A white lie.
Looking at him, her eyes getting watery, she said, "Before it's too late."
