March 28th, the day I cam into existence.

"Gee," thought Sakura, "this feels like any other normal day to me." The pinkette mumbled to herself as she walked to the hospital.

"Hey Sakura, Happy Birthday!" Said girl turned around and had a bouquet of flowers shoved in her face.

"Mhhhm hmm"

"What's that forehead? I can't here you."

Sakura pulled herself out of the flowers and glared at her best friend. "I said thanks Ino-pig." She managed to emphasize the pig part.

Before Ino could make another comeback, the medic-nin was up and running. "Sorry can't chat Ino, I've got to get to the hospital, or Tsunade will pop a vessel."

When Sakura was halfway to the hospital, she ran into Naruto. "Sakura-chan, Happy Birthday!"

"Thanks Naruto, but I really got to get go-"

"I got you a present" Sakura stared at the box her teammate held out, and slowly opened it. After what the emerald eyed girl saw what was inside, she mentally slapped herself.

"Naruto… you wrapped up ramen and put it in a box for me. Why am I not surprised?"

The blonde grinned at her response. "Eat it while it's hot Sakura-chan. Oh, and make sure none of your flowers get in it. The flavor won't taste right if it does."

With that being said the two friends went back to doing what they normally planned to do. Naruto; causing a racket, and Sakura; sprinting to the hospital.

"I'm almost there," thought the birthday girl. "Just three more meters and-"

"Sakura, wait."

The frustrated medic angrily turned around. "What is it Sai?"

The young ANBU scratched his head sheepishly, almost afraid to reply. "I heard today was your birthday, so I made you a present."

Forgetting her anger, Sakura looked at what Sai was pulling from behind his back. It was a painting of an enormous, beautiful, sakura tree.

"Wow Sai, I'm speechless. Thank you so much." When Sai didn't reply, Sakura looked up. The black haired boy held up a book to her face. It said, "A Guide to Giving Friends Gifts."

The pale boy continued by explaining, "This book said on a friend's birthday, you should give them something that reminds you of them. That is why I drew a sakura tree.

"Sakura Haruno, you're half an hour late! I expect you of all people to know better." The fifth Hokage's voice boomed throughout the hospital. There was a long, uncomfortable silence, before Tsunade spoke again.

"Just kidding!"

"Huh?" said Sakura clearly confused.

"Today's your birthday, my apprentice. You don't have to work on your birthday." Shocked, Sakura walked out of the hospital and slowly made her way home.

When the exhausted pinkette got home, she put the flowers in a vase, ate her ramen, and put up her painting.

"Today was great, I got gifts from my friends, and a day off work. Could this day get any better?"

Just as Sakura finished her thought she saw a note by her window, a smile etched on her face as she slowly read it.

I know this isn't much of a present, but oh well. I may be gone, but I won't forget. Happy Birthday, my ex-teammate.

On the bottom it was initialed S.U.
