Bittersweet

Hisana likes her tea bitter, something Byakuya discovers when they begin their rendezvous at the Flowerpetal Golden Bridge Tea House, a gaudy, tacky place in Byakuya's eyes, a fancy establishment in Hisana's.

She always insists that he pay, not out of greed but out of a lack of pride. Hisana has little pride to speak off (although where she draws the line she draws it thick) a foreign concept to Byakuya who is made up almost entirely of pride with barely a thin layer of snide humor to make him bearable.

They met when she stole a good portion of the money he had on him and she seems to have little issue with using his money now, never in access, she will never ask for more than she believes she deserves (far less than what he could provide) but she certainly doesn't skimp when it comes to ordering. Everything and anything on the menu must be tried even the things that Byakuya does not have the heart to tell her are not in fact food (at least not in his mind). Like when she drank the water from a finger bowl or ate the berries from a bouquet he brought her.

Hisana starts her meal by preparing the tea. Byakuya often suggests she try sugar (a given for him, a luxury for her) and she always declines. She pours several dried herbs he is sure shouldn't go together into what she calls her mixer of madness, letting it steep an impossibly long time so long that it turns a shade of brown that mirrors that of the mud outside and smells about as appealing, at least in Byakuya's opinion. She won't touch it again until she has finished every dish and forced Byakuya to try at least one. Then she will sit back and demand a recount of his latest mission or how the newest squad members are doing. She knows more about him than anyone. He knows less about her every time they meet.

Finally she will indulge in her bitter tea, sipping (slurping) like it was milder than milk and they will fall into a reflective silence that lasts almost forever but ends at the bottom of her tea cup.

She will ditch him with an outrageous excuse and the bill 'I think I hear the sound of one hand clapping I have to go see what it is for the sake of philosophy' or 'what's that in the distance? I think it's my destiny, I have to go check! you'll be okay with this right?". She will be gone before he has decided what the appropriate response to her... Hisananess is.

He'll tell himself he is wasting his time, that this is a distraction but he'll find himself at the tea shop the same time next week a little deeper in love then the last. Byakuya will always return for her because Byakuya has developed an unfortunate taste for bittersweet.

I don't even know, I guess after years of lurking around this site I've actually attempted to contribute something I did not write when I was 12. Criticism makes me cringe but it is also very welcome. Please review even if it just to day something random, I will interpret it as metaphor - Thayet

PS I dont own none of this shiz except for the brain thoughts that are mine.
