The Dragon Speaker

His mother had not been particularly happy with the news of her second oldest son moving to Romania to become a Dragon Tamer of all things. She had seen the job as something below par of his true ability but he loved dragons and there was no denying it.

His mother had accepted his decision after a few years as word had returned to England about his fame at being a Dragon Tamer and how he managed to make the job almost look easy even to the people who knew otherwise after handling dragons for many years before. Everyone who had watched him work with the dragons had always told him that it was almost as if he spoke the same language as the dragons and they had come to a mutual agreement.

Charlie could not really argue that point.

In a way it was almost as if the dragons had graced him with the ability of communicating with them. He had only realized it about a year into the job after there was a run in with someone who had tried to steal one of the dragon eggs from its mother.

The egg had almost left the boundaries of the land the Romanian Ministry had given them but Charlie had fought hard with the large female dragon to regain that egg. The female had seemed to sense that and once the egg had finally been returned he had felt a tingling of magic run through him just before he had collapsed from magical exhaustion.

He had recovered quickly enough and was astonished when he had discovered the ability, quickly linking it to the rush of magic he had felt.

It was a language in a way, just one without words and filled with actions that were honest and meant well. Their language was based off mutual trust.

The one single thing that amazed every other Dragon Tamer at the reserve no matter how much experience they had under their belt.

Well it was either trust or his flaming Weasley hair.

He would prefer to believe that it was the former or his entire family could join the business.
