Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto.

Author's Notes: So Chapter 1 of the first Multi I'm going to upload to here. Hopefully it will be entertaining. It will be full of angst and there will be few breaks from that so if that is not your cup of tea I would not recommend reading this. I hope I keep a little humor in along the way but one never knows. Review please, I would love to hear from you! ~ Luna

He stands on a hill over looking the village and admires the way the moonlight glints off windows and lights the streets. It's a bright night and he's sure that he's been noticed already but figures it wouldn't hurt to test his abilities anyway. He slides back farther into the shadow of the tree he's leaning against and counts to three. As soon as the cloud covers the moon he's moving. Body a flicker from shadow to shadow he's at his apartment in under five minutes and he can reasonably say that he hasn't given himself away, no clumsy moves and no noises. But still he waits in the alley next to the building and wonders if they will come. No shadows move and there is no noise other than those normal to the night, some dogs and cats and a few drunks stumbling home. When he moves out into the open and up the steps to his door the moon is covered again and his black fatigues and scarf tied around his head help to hide him. He is in his door and resting by the window when the cloud moves away and the street is once more lit. 'The Anbu must be slacking' he moves quietly putting his pack on his bed and watching the dust fly into the air to catch the light. He's been gone a long time.

After unpacking he shakes out his blankets and lays down to sleep, he'll need to report to the Hokage in the morning though he is pretty sure she will know before he wakes up. Lying in his dark room he glances at the picture of his team and smiles. He is imagining their reactions to his return, planning accordingly as he slips into dreams. He tosses and turns waking a few times and rolling over, it is the curse of shinobi that their dreams are usually less than pleasant.

Shadows move across his path and he stumbles and falls when reaching for his weapons, the pouch he keeps them in is missing and the displacement of air close by tells him he's just missed being hit by something. He doesn't stop to find out what, instead he is on his feet running as fast as he can. His breath slicing in and out and his muscles are burning and he doesn't know how long he's been running or how far he's come but he can see the lights of the village in front of him. Suddenly there is movement on his right and he dodges a vicious kick to the side and returns it with one of his own but his attacker is gone already. When he stumbles into the village he expects to see someone, for help to be waiting but he finds only silence and a dead feeling in a place that when he left was full of life. He starts looking around and calling out but when no one answers he starts to move again running through streets and shouting, he notices eyes in windows and doors ahead of him slam shut. When he reaches the tower it was to find the Hokage standing on the top looking down at him with pain in her eyes as she orders every Anbu she has to attack and it is then that he realizes he is not himself but the fox. His scream of fear and pain wakes him from the dream and in the back of his mind he can hear quiet laughter.

Shaking he realizes the room is full of sunlight and his alarm clock is ticking next to his ear. Throwing off his blankets and swinging his legs off the bed he takes a minute to look at the room in the light since he hadn't bothered to the night before. It definitely needs cleaning but he won't be around long enough for it to matter. With that thought in mind and his stomach growling he moves to the shower and finds out rather quickly he needs to set up his hot water again, he doesn't really mean to make his presence known with the howl he's just let out but it's a little late to change that.
