Silent love song

Gilbert stared at the piano. Even though he could not hear it, he still loved to watch the others nimble fingers dance over the keys. The shaking fingers gaining speed as they slam against the ivories. He could only assume that the slow song has adopted an angry tone. Gilbert could tell that Roderich was upset; he didn't need his hearing to notice that he was messing up, stumbling on the cords and notes. He knows this is hard for Roderich, and he knows being around him makes it harder, but he couldn't find the strength to leave him.

He didn't ask to go deaf. He didn't ask to be separated from his brother. He didn't ask to be a war prisoner to Ivan, but that's what he got. During his time as a prisoner he had taken so many blows to the head, he was surprised he hadn't lost more than his hearing.

Still he sat there, watching Roderich fall apart. Still he sat there, not hearing his cries and yells. Still he sat there, unable to apologize.
