Cecil hit the alarm on his clock. He rolled over and curled up again in his blankets. Almost drifting back into a nice sleep his phone began to go off. By the plain ringtone, he knew nobody important calling and chose to ignore it. Rolling over he covered his head with a plush pillow. Settling down once more the phone began to ring again. After letting out a grunt of frustration Cecil flopped over with a scrunched up face. His nose pressed in to the pillow he slapped his hand around the side table until a rectangle imprint was felt under his palm. Without glancing at the screen Cecil answered begrudgingly.
"Hell-o." He grunted.
"Umm.. Cecil? Gosh you sound tired. I'm so sorry to wake you.. But uh.." The young timid voice paused trying to collect his thoughts on the other line. After a few seconds of waking up on Cecil's part he finally pieced the familiar voice to a face. The sudden realization of who the other end of the phone was Cecil shot up in bed.
"OH! You're one of Carlos' lab assistants aren't you!?"
"Umm… yes sir.."
"Well then." Cecil composed himself in as professional way and cleared his throat "How can I help you then?"
"Um.. Carlos wanted you to come to the lab for-"
"I'm, on my way!" Cecil chirped into the phone.
"Oh but-" The line went dead. The assistant shuffled his feet and rolled his lips inward to gently bite them.
"Alrighty then.." He whispered to himself as himself as he glanced around the room.
It was a ten minute drive from Cecil's to the lab however he mostly made it there in five as he did today. Cecil parked his car and glanced in the mirror to make sure of his looks. He grinned and hopped out of the car after being satisfied with his reflection. With an extra bounce in his step he entered the lab. Cecil cleared his throat and folded his hands behind his back with a smile, catching Carlos' attention. The scientist turned around with a genuine grin spread across his face. As he walked towards Cecil he began asking questions sparing no time.
"Cecil, Have you lived here you're whole life?"
"Of course! You know that." Cecil grinned.
"So have you ever seen snow then?"
Cecil paused and thought for a few seconds.
"No, I actually don't believe so- not in person."
Carlos grinned at the answer and guided Cecil forward stopping him a short distance away from a large machine. Carlos began whispering with all of his assistants followed by various buttons being tapped in elaborate patterns.
The light began to dim causing a frown and confused look on Cecil's face. The machine hummed and started to shiver slightly. Soft green and red lights drifted across the ceiling and a radio began to play music.
"I'm dreaming of a white Christmas…" Carlos softly sang with the song as he flipped a small switch. The machine produced snow from the very top out of a funnel. This was not a regular snow machine that produced regular snow; The small flakes glittered different colours and seemed to lethargically drift down like a feather. They seemed slightly bigger and did not seem to carry as much cold with them, however what Cecil liked the most was that they smelled faintly of lavender chewing gum.
Carlos approached Cecil and took his hand, gently pulling him into the open area. They slowly danced together, both grinning uncontrollably. Cecil kissed Carlos' forehead and held him tighter to his body.
