Since they were little Danny and Jackson were inseperable. It all started with the first day of kindergarden when Danny's mom dropped him off. Danny had pouted and threw a fit upon seperation and it took a while for him to calm down. As a matter of fact, he didn't calm down until a very calm and cocky boy walked up to him and gave him a hug. The boy introduced himself as Jackson and they were instant best firends. At recess, Jackson pushed Danny on the swings and Danny helped Jackson dig a hole. By the end of the day they had promised to beg their parents for play dates.

The next few weeks the boys grew closer. They rarely interacted with the other kids and it was obvious how much they cared for each other. If one of them got hurt, the other would be the first to hug and comfort the one injured. Danny shared his paste and Jackson shared his lunch. They would often push each other on the swings and dug many holes anywhere that they could. There was one day where the class was learning how to paint and Danny cried because he couldn't get his flower to look like the teacher's. Jackson had to sit with Danny and comfort him. It cost Jackson a lollypop that he had just recieved and some hugs but it was worth it in the end to see Danny smile again. No one else recieved the kindness Danny did from Jackson.

Jackson had begged his mom for a sleepover with Danny for weeks but she was always hesitant. It took some of Jackson's best tantrums to get his mom to finally agree. On a Monday Jackson came to school with a grin on his face. He waited for as long as he could by the backpack drop off area but the teacher called him in and class started. By the time recess came, Danny still hadn't. Jackson sat by himself at the edge of the playground waiting patienly for Danny. When school let out later that day, Jackson went up to his teacher to ask about Danny. "Oh I'm so sorry sweetie but Danny has the flu so he wont be back for a while." Jackson ran from his teacher and straight to his mom's car.

Jackson didn't eat dinner that night and he went straight to bed as soon as he could. His mom tried to consol him but it was hopeless. Even Jackson's father couldn't cheer him up and his parents were left confused as to what had happened. This continued for the rest of the week until Friday morning when Jackson's mom spoke to him before dropping him off at school. "So sweetie, today's the big day. Your friend Danny is going to sleep over so you can stop pouting now." Jackson shot her a cold stare and told her what the teacher had told him. He got out of the car and stomped off to class.

That day when his mom picked him up, she went in to speak to his teacher. When she was finished, she helped Jackson into the car and he noticed she was using the facy computer in the car. While she drove, he noticed this wasnt the normal was't home and got a little worried. Whent he car stopped, his mom led him out of the car and up the walkway of the house they stopped in front of. She rang the doorbell and Jackson almost broke into tears when he saw Danny's dad open the door. "Jackson, Danny's waiting for you upstairs." Jackson nearly fell over his own two feet running up the stairs. He saw a door with the letter D on it and went inside hoping to see his friend but not before taking a second to catch his breath and collect his cool.

Jackson opened the door and almost cried when he saw Danny. The kid was sitting up in his bed with some dinosaur toys in his hand. Jackson dropped his backpack and ran to hug his friend. "I missed you." Jackson meant it. Danny tried to speak but no sound came out. Jackson looked at his friend with panic in his eyes when his mom walked in. "Mommy what's wrong with Danny?" Jackson was so worried.

"Danny has the flu and he also lost his voice. For now. I'll give you guys a minute then I'll take you home sweetie." Jackson did not like what he heard. He moved onto the bed closer to Danny and put his arms around him. They played with the dinosaurs for a little until Jackson's mom called for him. He gave Danny a hug then walked out the door to his mom.

"Mommy I wanna stay and take care of Danny." Jackson spoke with confidence even though he had no idea what he was saying.

"I don't know if that's a good idea sweetie." as she spoke, Danny's dad walked up to them.

"Hey buddy, you left your backpack." He tried to hand Jackson his backpack but stopped when he saw the look on Jackson's face. The little boy was determined. "What's wrong?"

"I wanna stay and take care of Danny."

"Sweetie we talked about this..."

"You do? Well Danny could use a friend. Why dont you go back in there and I'll talk to your mom." Jackson smiled and ran back into Danny's room with his backpack.

"I told you. Thanks for letting him stay. I'm glad I brought his clothes. I'll be back Monday morning. Thanks again Seth."

"No problem Sarah. Danny's been miserable and i think this will really help him." He walked her out and came back to check on the boys. When he opened the door to his son's room, he saw that they were asleep with Jackson holding Danny. He smiled to himself as he turned off the light and closed the door. It was at that exact moment that Jackson tightened his arms around Danny and silently vowed to never let his friend be sad again.

The first day of 5th grade was a huge day for Danny. He had begged his dad for months to let him sign up for the junior lacross team and his dad promised to let him join starting in 5th grade. So Danny put on his favorite shirt and lucky jeans and waited at the front of the school for Jackson. A smile immediately lit up his face as Jackson walked up to him in a nearly identical outfit. "Hey!" Danny gave his friend a nod as he leaned in for a hug. "So you're gonna go with me after school for the sign ups right?" Danny put on his puppy dog eyes and Jackson shook his head in annoyance.

"Come on dude. You know I hate lacross." Jackson answered as they walked together to their favorite table. School doesn't start until 8 so they have a little bit of time.

"But you promised!" Danny whinned. He knew Jackson hated it but he also knew that Jackson couldn't put up a fight for long.

"Yeah to go with you when YOU sign up." he said as he put his backpack down and sat at the table. He knew Danny was going to try to get him to sign up with him. Danny hardly did anything without Jackson and vice versa.

"But Jackson!" Danny practically stomped his feet and Jackson could see his friend starting to pout. Something he didn't like to see.

"Ugh! Fine! I'll sign up too. You owe me!" Jackson smiled when he saw Danny happy with his response. Might as well Jackson thought. Danny was going to make him help out with practicing and everything else so why not sign up for the team? Jackson looked over and saw that Danny was so happy he didn't notice the group of guys walking past their table snickering at them. He clenched his fist as he watched them walk past and turned to Danny. "You know they're making fun of you right?"

"Yeah but I dont really care what anyone else thinks. I have an amazing friend who is gonna sign up for lacross with me even though he hates it and will play some video games with me after school today. What more can I ask for?" Danny smiled and Jackson laughed as he heard this. He was glad he was friends with Danny. The kid was simple and made Jackson actually so happy he almost forgets he is adopted. The pain subsides when he's with Danny. The bell rang and the boys went off to their respective classes promising to see each other at lunch.

When lunch came, Danny found Jackson at their table with his food already spread out. It looks like Jackson brought too much yet again. They shared their food and talked about how their first day was so far. Jackson told Danny about how one girl introduced herself as Princess Lydia and insistsed everyone call her that. Danny laughed and told Jackson about a pretty funny guy in his class whose name the teacher couldn't pronounce so he goes by Stiles. The two boys shared laughs and by the time they finished their food, the bell had already rung twice signaling that they have about two minutes to get to class.

When the final bell rang, Danny and Jackson found each other by the field and after another hug, they walked to the sign up table. "Well, well, well. Look who it is! The loser Siamese twins of Beacon Elementary."

"Shut up Matt!" Jackson retorted and the other boy gave a smirk as he walked away. Danny and Jackson had always had a negative relationship with Matt ever since kindergarden when he came over to Jackson on the playground but was sent away. It was the week that Danny was sick and Jackson hardly spoke to anyone let alone allow anyone near him. Matt seemed to remember that time clearly and hung onto it for dear life. Even though Danny once tried to make ammends with Matt, it seemed to go nowhere and Jackson had insisted they ignore him from then on.

Danny and Jackson walked onto the field after signing up. They picked up the lacrosse sticks and played admirably. Jackson was a natural of course and Danny was holding his own for a bit. When the coach finally blew his whistle, the boys ran back to the pavement with the rest of the team. "Okay everyone, thank you so much for coming and signing up. I'll have a list posted tomorrow and I look forward to an amazing season with you guys." The coach said before taking off. Danny and Jackson walked back tot the front of the school and sat together while waiting for their parents to show up.

As they sat there waiting, Jackson noticed that Danny was looking quite scared. Danny must be thinking that he wasn't good enough because he had that pathetic look on his face and Jackson just couldn't stand looking at it anymore. He scooted over to his friend and put his arm around him. Danny smiled back and they sat there in silence for the next few minutes. When Jackson's mom pulled up, Danny's dad was right behind her and the boys hugged goodbye. Before getting into the car though, Jackson turned to Danny. "Dont worry, you're on the team for sure!" He really meant it. DAnny dersened the best and Jackson was sure the would get them.

"Thanks Jackson." Danny said as his friend was getting into the car. The look on his friend's face told Danny that Jackson really did believe what he said. It helped him feel a little better but there was still that doubt. You're on the team for sure Danny replayed in his head over and over again during the ride home. He hoped Jackson was right.
